I just want to let you ladies know for anyone going to RK Bridal or got their dress there, to be careful with the alterations dept. Im not trying to scare anyone who already bought their dress there, but I am NOT happy at all with them at the moment. Its 2 weeks before my wedding and they have ROYALLY screwed up the top of my dress and I have to be honest their 'seamstress' and I use that term loosely seem to be like factory workers who are very BY THE BOOK and dont or arent able to because they werent trained to think outside the box. And by that I mean they cant add anything to your dress and they dont offer advice about undergarments or anything. And I feel they dont take a woman's shape into consideration when making the alterations. They just follow the lines and dont pay attention to how it will fit. Maybe its the woman I got and not the whole dept and to tell you the truth I forgot her name. I think it was Anna or something I will find out Sat and let you girls know who she is. While Diana is helpful shes NOT the one doing the alterations so what does it mater that SHE can see the issue or she knows how to fix it if shes not the one doing the work?! My top is lopsided and they sat there telling me it was ME. They had about 4 different excuses until I called Diana over and she helped me. My seamstress who clearly doesnt speak English well, just kept YESING ME. Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes... O its cause your pulling on the dress, cause your moving, its cause one boob is bigger, its cause your waist is cut differently, its cause of your bra... BUT all of that was NOT the case when Diana walked out NO, now it was the lace... NO its cause YOUR DEPT EFFED THE TOP OF MY DRESS UP. On top of the fact it FLATTENS me out and I feel so uncomfortable in it like I CANT move because if I do OOO OOPS the dress starts to shift and fit me awkwardly... Then I get an attitude from the bridal attendant who helps me every time I go because she though I was just going to come back and pick my dress up without trying it on again! So she does the whole 'pshhhhhh' sound when I say no I want to try it on again and is like o well you need to make an appt then. I just dont like how I was treated, and everyone standing there telling me its ME when its not... Even another woman was like no your right, its uneven on top... Then the attendant makes me stand there for 15 minutes waiting for an appt and tells me how there are no sat appts and they dont do after 5. Then Diana comes out and tells me I CAN come on a Sat!!!!!!
And the way this bridal attendant spoke to another bride who had an accent and clearly wasnt from this country left me JAW DROPPED APPALLED... Like I was looking at her like WHOAAAAAAAAAA you did NOT talk to this woman like that?!
Ive been hysterical crying since last night, FH feels soo bad for me he just kept hugging me telling me its going to be alright. 2 weeks before my wedding its not like I can just go BUY another dress. EVERYTHING I have is for that dress AND its not even like its possible to just go somewhere buy something off the rack and have them alter it, even if I could do that ALL my accessories are for my dress. My FG dress color (because this dress is diamond white), my veil, my jewelry, my headpiece, my shoes... ALL for this dress... I have to go back Sat and Im praying that they will be able to fix it...
Again Im sorry Im not trying to scare anyone that already bought their dress there, but if you go there and DO get a dress, I would advise to get your alterations elsewhere AND/OR I would advise you go to a salon where you get one on one service. I wish I would have done that. I was just so excited and I grabbed a dress too quickly... I just didnt know and I didnt have anyone to tell me and I hadnt found this site yet... Nothing I can do now 2 weeks before my wedding. Im the bride I should feel like a million bucks and be in love with my dress and IM NOT... AT ALL and Im hysterical about it... =/

Re: RK BRIDAL
Oh WOW!! I'm terribly sorry to hear that!
We got our BM dresses there. But we did the no frills program... where you buy it at a majopr discount then you take it to a regular tailor to have the alterations done. The customer service was GREAT.... esp compared to Davids Bridal (we went to 2 of them looking for BM dresses and they were soooooo not helpful at all). RK Bridal... they helped me grab like 50 + dresses and had my girls in the dressing room. They even gave us an extra 10 mins. So I was more than pleased.
Then again though... we weren't looking at bride dresses - that's on the other side of the store. And we didn't have to work with them too much.
I'm terribly sorry about that. To be honest... when I was bride dress shopping there were a bunch of places that turned me off!! The way the didn't return calls or just seemed unorganized while I was there... or just unhelpful in general... so I KNEW I wanted to go to a place to buy the dress and have it altered that I can TRUST!! I was VERY VERY SCARED of this happened so I was being very critical of some of the places I went to. And because of this I ended up bying from Kleinfeld's. I felt like I could only really trust them for some reason.
I really feel for you. ANd I hope it all works out and that they can fix it. If anything can you take the dress from them and go to a regular tailor to have it fixed? That's what I would do!! ESP AT THIS POINT!! And if you don't trust these people.. I wouldn't give them another chance since time is running out!

I feel so sorry for you to be going through this.
I do agree with PP about taking the dress to a good seamstress to have them correct the mistakes.

Re: RK BRIDAL
This is crazy! I was just there the other day looking at BM's dresses and was super impressed with the selection. But when someone says something like this it makes me second guess that whole place. So sorry this happened to you!

Wow!! I feel so bad that you are ging through this at this time. As hard as it is. Breathe and try to calm down. Do not over stress yourself because that can lead to other problems. I knew of someone who had a similar issue (but not with a wedding dress).
She wanted to take it elsewhere to be fixed but they told her if she wanted to take it out she would have to pay in full and if she couldn´t find someone to fix it she couldn´t bring it back there or they would charge her all over (something like that).
She was stressed about it but a friend introduced her to a seamstress who was willing to go with her no strings attached (she was a friend of a friend so she only had to buy her lunch.) The seamstress looked at it and saw how she could fix it. So they took it and it all worked out.
I don´t know if this is doable in NY but I just thought i´d share the story just in case it can help.
Good luck and breathe. No matter what happens, you will look beautiful and your day will be perfect. Just concentrate on the positive (i know this is MUCH easier said than done)

Re: RK BRIDAL
Sorry to hear about your experience. Which seamstress are you using at RK?
I have heard bad stories but I've had a very positive experience so far. My seamstress is Gloria and I think she did an awesome job. My dress fits like a glove.
I would try talking to Candy (the owner) or the man that is usually behind the counter.
Edited to Add: I've delt with RK for my wedding and other weddings before mine and I've never had any problems. If you are concerned about getting wedding dress alterations I just would not have them done there.

Re: RK BRIDAL
When I was a BM once, I did the no frills there. When we ordered the dress , the attendant said get a size 2. I am a street 0 BUT my bust is bigger. I said I need a 4 or the top will be tight. SHE INSISTED. I said no order the 4. She said I'd be sorry. The 4 was slightly tight on my bust, imagine the 2??????
It proved they knew nothing.
When I went for my wedding dress, they immediately said get a 4. It goes by the biggest part of your body; your chest. Although my 4 needs a lot in hip, any tighter on my chest/ribcage would been too tight.
That's when I knew I would do my alterations there.

Re: RK BRIDAL
I promise I will keep you all updated... I have to say up until this point I had nothing but positive things to say... I should have known when I went for that initial fitting when the woman couldnt understand, didnt have any extra bras for me and COULDNT advise me on a bra to buy and WAIT to come back with a better bra since the one I brought with me didnt work, when I thought it would... I should have known... BUT I assumed she knew best... I KNEW I was uncomfortable RIGHT THEN I should have listened to my instinct... I KNEW she didnt understand me... THEN when I went back for my 2nd fitting she took it in 2 INCHES TOO MUCH! 2 INCHES!!!! Thats A LOT to measure wrong... And I havent gained a pound, in fact I lost weight out and not even on purpose... And thats not a lie Ive been a size 2/4 my whole life NO NEED to lie about my weight... So THATS not what it was AT ALL... NOW shes made it LOOK like one boob IS bigger than the other because you didnt alter it to MY body you altered it according to a ruler! And THATS the problem!!!!!!
Thats what I mean by they are like a factory basic seamstress workshop... They dont add anything they cant give you ideas, they didnt offer me options for things... I noticed when they add straps to a dress its the same straps they add to EVERY dress... I asked to add something to the straps I was told to go purchase the material and they will SEE if they can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to another salon to order BM dresses when I asked the woman about a veil she pulled out the material and had everything ON SITE and IN HAND if I wanted something custom made... THATS how a bridal salon should be...
I just wish I knew better when I first went and I didnt... Iwas soo excited and didnt know about this site and didnt know anyone who got married before me so my friends couldnt offer advice... And I knew one other girl who got her dress at RK and she had a positive experience...
Again up until this point EVERYTHING has been great but this is the most CRUCIAL point and I just wouldnt trust them with alterations...
IF anyone knows any good tailors in the brooklyn or manhattan area PLEASEEE let me know asap! Even LI but not too far out... Worse comes to worse Im taking the dress out and bringing it somewhere else...
I called Diana back today and practically cried on the phone to her and shes VERY VERY nice and apologetic about it and told me to come in ASAP And she will see if the dress needs anything else but she didnt see that last night... She thinks its the lace on the dress isnt laying evenly sothats what throwing off the way the top appears and thats why it appears uneven... She will make sure its perfect... So I will again let you guys know how it goes...
Ive bought extra bras and body shapers to be on the safe side just to try to see if ANYTHING will help it...

im sorry you are going through this
when my dress came in they ordered the wrong size and had the nerve to tell me that i gained weight...i told them i have been this weight for years and im still wearing the same clothes i wore last year...so after fighting with them they finally ordered me a new dress at no charge and it arrived 2 weeks later...but now im so nervous to get my alterations there

So sorry this happened to you. I got my dress there and did the alterations there as well and my dress came out beautifully. Unfortunately I'm sure all salons have their horror stories. Again, sorry you have to go through this is stinks!

Re: RK BRIDAL
Ladies I remembered they gave me a sheet for everytime you go and it has the tailor's name on it! Her name is DELUBRA or DELUBNA or something. I cant make out the girls hand writing as to whether the next to last letter is an N or an R.
Honestly I would AVOID HER at all costs... I showed my mother in law and grandmother, who used to be a seamstress, the pictures to compare my 1st fitting before any work was done to now and my grandmother was like Yes you can CLEARLY see theres a difference from the left to the right. It appears as if shes pulled the top too tight, made the straps too tight and THATS why the top is pulling and then causing the lace to lay funny and look like its raised from the material and also why it appears to flatten your boobs. AND your bustle needs more than just 1 point THATS ALSO why the material keeps falls over and covering your embellishments on the back its not about being pressed (cause thats what they told me)... SO THE WHOLE THING NEEDS TO BE RE-DONE!!!!!!!!! =/ And she said its clear this woman didnt know what she was doing. TO even mess up enough to take in 2 inches too much on top is a VERY BIG mistake that a beginner would make not an experienced seamstress. Yea maybe your off a quarter inch on something or it pinches a lil and needs to come out but to take in 2 inches too much from a first fitting to a second barely 2 weeks later is ridiculous...
Well Diana will be there on Sat I called back to confirm that and I told her I dont want that woman touching my dress anymore...
My grandmother is coming with me Saturday and will look at it in person and see exactly what needs to be done and will tell them because shes VERY outspoken and thats EXACTLY what I need...
And I plan to talk to the STORE manager about this as well. I paid a lot of $ for my dress and I trust your store to have TRAINED PROFESSIONALS that you ask me to TRUST with the most important day of my life and Ive been crying for 2 days 2 weeks before my wedding when I have a MILLION things to do and I cant focus because Im sooo upset about this... Its ridiculous! I trusted her to know what shes doing and THIS is what I end up with 2 weeks before my wedding, alterations need to be done ALL over again to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am soo upset and mad...
