Hi Ladies! I am planning to head to RK Bridal tomorrow morning and have a few questions. How is the store organized...by designer? style? price? or is there just no organization at all?? I dont want to spend all day (and i cant because i have plans) but if I need to I will reschedule...just trying to figure it all out in advance Thanks

They aren't as bad for BM dresses, IMO. I purchased mine for my cousin's wedding from there and had no problems. We did go during the week though.

It's organized by desginer and everything is squished together on racks. You have to help yourself and on the weekend you can wait sometimes an hour to get a dressing room. There is also a limit on how many dresses you can try on.
What she said!! It's *really* hard to see the dresses, so unless you are going with a few particular styles in mind that you know they have in stock, I might try some other places first. I had pictures of the dresses I wanted to try and I gave them to my mom, sister, and BM to search through the racks for. Also, you'd probably be better off going during the week. If you must go on the weekend, get there as SOON as the store opens. I got there 10 minutes after it opened and had to wait an hour and a half for a fitting room.
I *hated* it there though. The lady who eventually.... finally helped me told me I looked awful in the dress I *really* had been looking forward to trying on.
I 'partially' agree with you. I went to RK bridal both as a BM and as a bride 2 days. As a BM, my friend found the dress of her dream there. Her attendent was very helpful and actually picked her dress for her. The wait was long but what do you expect on a weekend at a bridal salon? I went to the Catnip Boutique (a small bridal boutique in Queens) and I waited 2 hours because it was so crowded!
As a bride, I went on thursday and it was empty! I went in at 1:10pm and I was out by 2:00pm! I tried on at least 10 dresses and my attendent helped me find (what i hope is) THE ONE!.
What i didnt like was that all the dresses were mushed together by designer and I had to search through racks to find my dress. But again, thats how most bridal salons are. If you do go to RK bridal, go early because there is a wait but i say, go because you would most likely find the dress of your dreams at a discounted rate! Good Luck!

ok so i have a new plan...since i def want to try on this dress, I will just go on a weekday when they open and hope for the best I have no problem helping myself and picking out what I like...its the hour wait for a fitting room that would drive me crazy!
That's exactly why had to go there- it was the ONLY place that had the dress I wanted to try (the one I looked awful in ) I think you're better off going during the week.
But definitely try the place. You don't even have to order from them if you don't want to, at least you'll have the opportunity to try the dress you've been looking for! Good luck! Let us know how it goes!
I totally agree!!! I was able to try on several dresses in my size which was something I had problems with at other salons (apparently, most sample sizes are an 8 or a 10, which is crazy) So i saw the first dress of my dream in my size (it didnt look right on me) and then the attendent found a dress for me that looked much better!

Re: RK Bridal
I got there at 10 when the opened on Sunday and didn't get into a dressing room until 12:30. And they rushed me in and out.
The dresses are organized by designer. You do have to help yourself but if you go on a weekday, you will get more attention from the sales people. I originally went on a weekday and I was very prepared.. I had a list of dresses I liked by designer... and I went to RK bridal knowing which of the designers they carried so I didn't even bother looking for a designer they didn't carry. When the sales girls knew the type of style I was looking for, they kept grabbing me dresses they thought I would like...and I actually really liked the dresses they showed me but I ended up getting one I picked out myself. My 'runner up' however was something they had picked for me.
The selection is HUGE.. I would definitely check out RK Bridal but do go there prepared with a list and pics of your favorite styles.

Go there after work and there's no one there! Avoid going there on weekends.... Believe me, you don't want to see the mess there!

Re: RK Bridal
After reading all the posts about RK Bridal I was hesitant to go, but was dying to try on a specific dress (that turns out I hated when I tried it on). I went yesterday (in the rain) figuring it was a weekday so it would be less crowded and I was right...sort of. I got there a few minutes after the store opened and did not have to wait for a room. When you get in, you sign a sheet and then walk around on your own picking dresses off the racks to try on. I did have someone in there helping me but she def did not help me pick out styles or anything like that. I was in there for an hour and was not limited to how many dresses I could try on...when I brought in the first batch of dresses (maybe 10 or so) i was just told to start trying on but once I was done I was able to go out and bring in some more...without giving up the fitting room. Another thing I thought was great is that they give you all the designer info (name, style and pricing) to take with you. I was under the impression that RK was supposed to be one of the less expensive stores, but it turns out the dress I like is $100 less at ******* (not a huge difference, but it saves me from having to go into the city even though RK will price match). So basically, I would say if you have a style/fit in mind and you dont have a problem looking through racks on your own, then RK isnt really a bad place to go. I would not go there if you dont have anything in mind because there is a lot to go through. But you ladies definitely are right...it gets packed! By the time I left (noon on a rainy tuesday) there was a wait to try on dresses so get there early!

Re: RK Bridal
it's just a big open store with racks of dresses. yea, if you have no idea what you're looking for in a dress or designer, you'll hate it. but if you know what designers you like and go with a few dresses in mind you'll be fine. i had a great experience there and bought my dress, bm dresses, and mob dresses there. obviously it's hectic on the weekends -- they don't take appointments so anyone can go whenever they want. if all bridal stores didn't take appointments they would all be hectic you'll be fine. just go on a weekday! i went to pick something up at 12:30 on a friday and i thought it would be packed bc it was lunch time but there was no one there!

Re: RK Bridal
I went to RK bridal to try on a specific gown also and I was able to try on other gowns without a problem. We went on a Tuesday as soon as the store opened and it was probably me and another bride trying on gowns. I definitely suggest going during the weekday in the morning.
We had a girl named Emily and she was somewhat helpful. When we walked in we signed my name to a clipboard and was given a fitting room. I pretty much went to the rack and grabbed anything that looked ok even though i had a specifi gown in mind.
I ended up ordering the gown from Bridal Elegance, and they ended up giving me the gown cheaper...

Re: RK Bridal
Many people on here complain about RK but I had a great experience when I purchased my dress. I think you just have to be concious of what you need, what you want and what you are looking for. In terms of prices, I thought that for the most part it was the same as the other bridal stores I went to.
The reason I went to RK was because I wanted a maggie dress and they have a big selection. Also, I know how I am. I wanted a store where I could go around and pick up my own stuff and not have people pick out what they think I would like. I went during the week because I knew I didnt want to be rushed. It was great. I got there at 4:45 pm, tried on like 20 dress and finally picked my dress close to 7pm. The salesperson that worked with me was great! Her name is Jo and she pulled different styles for me and was great!

Re: RK Bridal
That place is a MAD house. I went with a girlfriend of mine when she found her dress (she wanted to show it to her BM's before she bought it) and we literally waited for 2 hours... I had to leave because I had another appointment and didn't even get to see her dress.
