RK BRidal...LONG VENT!

Well.. I was all excited to go with my BM's today to RK Bridal to purchase their dresses, but it didn't happen. When I called RK about the dress that my BM's would be getting, they told me that it was $132... which was great! So, I treked 2 of my BM's, my mom and my FMIL from Ronkonkoma into the city to meet up with my sister (my MOH), my 2 cousins (BM's) and my aunt who came from Staten Island so they can all try it on and purchase it. Well... when we got there I was informed that the dress is $132 ONLY if you do their 'No Frills' prgram which means you do your own measurements and order the dress yourself with no input from the staff at RK. If you mess up, you're screwed! Plus, they will not do the alterations for you if you chose the 'No Frills' program... you have to take it somewhere else to get it altered. BUT... if you want them to measure you & order the dress for you, it cost $178 dollars!!!... and then the alterations are capped at $65!! I was like 'are they nuts!??! It's going to cost an extra $46 for them to measure the girls and order the dress!?!? That is ridiculous!'
Soooo.. I called Burton's and asked them the price for the same dress. They told me it is $143 (that's including measurements and them ordering it for you) and the alterations are capped at only $45!
When I told the manager at RK if he was willing to match this, he told me 'NO' and said 'I suggest you go there then if they are willing to do that for you... but we can't' .

Needless to say, we are going to Burton's to purchase the BM's dresses!!

I'm just mad that I made everyone waste a whole day for nothing.

I understand it must have been frustrating for you to go into the city if that's not something you're used to doing, but RK Bridal is known specifically for their No Frills program. It is a great way to keep the prices of gowns at a reasonable level, especially for BM gowns. Their prices are firm, which is why he wouldn't change them for you - what they do for one, they must do for all.

I have used RK Bridal for my gown (regular purchase) and my BM gowns (No Frills) and every time I have come back to this board to RAVE about them. They have been nothing but wonderful - everything came in extremely early and they have worked with me every step of the way. I don't want them to get a bad name simply because one bride didn't like the idea of the No Frills program that so many others have benefitted from.

I'm glad you were able to find the gown in a salon that better suits your needs.

Thanks sooo much for posting that. I was just talking to MOH yesterday about going there. Now I'll try Burtons. Can you FM where it is?

I'm not trying to give RK Bridal a bad name. I've read great reviews about them which is why I had brought everyone into the city (which I do go into very often by the way) to purchase their dresses. I just wanted brides-to-be to know about their 'No Frills' program (which I had no clue about and was not informed about on the phone when I called to get the price quote on the dress) before going there. I wish I had.
