I wouldnt do alterations now, I'd wait, esp since you are losing weight. I cant believe it will be here so soon!!! Can you pick it up before they do the alterations and leave at your house? I have heard horror stories about dress places closing down and peoples gowns are inside. (happened to FH's cousin)
Hey better than not getting it in time! If u lose some weight they can always alter it. I would pick it up from the shop and tell them u want to get alterations when its closer to the wedding

you should be fine leaving it at RK bridal.. they're a pretty big place.. and if you heard that they were closing down they would have a lot of sales and you'd have plenty of time to pick it up!!
the same thing happened to me, i was told 4 months and it came in a week! mine is now in storage at the place that i bought it..

Re: RK Bridal...Should I be concerned?
Part of the reason i'm concerned is because one bridal shop I recently went to allowed me to try on a gown in my size that someone had orderred and was being stored for them.... I dont want anyone else trying on my dress!!

Sometimes the dresses come in earlier then expected. Most bridal salons (including RkBridal) will put your jdress in storage until your wedding date. I wouldn't worry to much about this. But, if you are concern then speak with the mgr there just to get some clarification.

Re: RK Bridal...Should I be concerned?
I agree! RK Bridal shoud be able to hold on to it.
if not, it does come pretty securely sealed, do you or a relative have a 'smoke-free' decently clean room to store it? I only ask b/c my friends parents smoke and have pets and they held her dress for a little while before the wedding and had a odd odor to it. Also, my moms, over time, turned yellow. I'm not sure if that will happen if you store it for a year, but i wouldn't take any chances.
I'm sure you can go for alterations as the wedding date approaches. I would defiantly not do it now!

you should tell them that - I'm surprised that other bridal place let you do that - just tell them your concerns I'm sure they'll be accomodating...

Re: RK Bridal...Should I be concerned?
I have had my dress for over a year already, ordered it in December and it came in in April the next year, and its been at my mom and grandma's until July when I pick it up following a wedding to bring back here, so I dont think it will be a concern to have it for 10 months

ITA.... better sooner than later. Either way, you ordered the size you ordered.... Alter later on.

Re: RK Bridal...Should I be concerned?
Just think of it this way. If you had waited.... maybe the dress wouldn't be available at all at that time and you'd have to look all over with a shorter amount of time to work with.
Be happy! Yayyy you got the dress

I wouldn't be concerned. They can do alterations if you lose a lot of weight, plus they usually only start alterations about 2 months prior to the date. Also you could go and try it on when it comes in and get a swatch of the material this way you can go get the shoes, veil, handbag, etc.

I had originally gone to David's Bridal to try on a few gowns so that I could get an idea of what styles I like. One of the ones i was trying on was too small, so the consultant offerred to let me try on a gown in my size that another bride had orderred and was having stored. I knew I wasn't going to buy the dress, so I didn't need to try it on... but they had brought it in to my dressing room and everything!!!!
I completely apologize to anyone whose ordered their dress from David's Bridal. David's Bridal is a larger chain store. I've found in the past that their practices aren't always the best or ethical, so it doesn't surprise me at all. Just IMO.
