Rob-luvs-me's Rehearsal Dinner at GWM
Christine asked me to post a mini-review of her Rehearsal Dinner, which was Friday Night at the George Washington Manor, in Roslyn.
It was a BEAUTIFUL place. They have done a very nice job maintaining the feel of a colonial inn. Valet parking when you pull in, well mannered attendants.
When we all got there, we went to a room upstairs for dinner. It was a nice room, but the air conditioning was CRANKED. We were freezing. We asked to have it turned off, but one of the BMs spotted the thermostat and fixed it herself. Even 30 minutes later, however, the MoH was still cold and asked when the AC would be turned off. She was shocked when I told her it had been already. The room did eventually warm though.
There was a bar, and a cocktail hour - Food during the cocktail hour was GREAT! They had these chicken wings and fried shrimps, and I was just in heaven.
Dinner - Pretty good. There was a choice of Stuffed Chicken, Salmon (I think), and Prime Rib. Both FH and I had the Prime Rib. Generous portion, cooked to order for each person. The appetizer was cold asparagus. I liked it, but FH didn't (he was a little weirded out by it being cold - it was supposed to be). There was also Caesar Salad, which FH liked quite a bit. I didn't have any, but that's because I don't care for Caesar.
Dessert - Cheesecake - VERY GOOD, but I only had a bite of FH's. Also, there was a Groom's Cake from St. Honore's, where the wedding and shower cakes were from. OMG it was SO good - I ate my piece AND FH's (he was stuffed from the cheesecake!). And it looked great too - I'm sure Christine will have a photo to post, and if not I'll get one from Shirley, our shared BM.
All in all, it was a lovely evening. I would recommend GWM as a place to have an event.
