If you're looking for Manhattan try One if by Land, Two if by Sea. Here's the website: One if by land

I also recommend Palm Court (Carlton on the Park) which is in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow and for Suffolk County I recommend the Country House located in Stony Brook which is a beautiful historic area on the North Shore. After or before dinner you can drive to the water (which is about a mile away) and enjoy a romantic sunset or walk under the stars.

Have fun!

El Paral in Syosset. Oh my god, amazing food. It is a small quaint little place. It is Spanish/Italian. The best baked clams I have ever had. Definitly romantic.

Also: Panama Hatties (elegant and exquisitely presented food that tastes wonderful) (huntington)

Tellers (elegant steak house in a beautiful building that used to be a bank)(e.islip) (ooh another Tellers Fan!)

Harvest on Fort Pond-delicious food and a beautiful waterfront view (montauk)

Good luck!

The Country House in Stony Brook is beautiful, and the food is awesome!

If you go, make reservations and ask for Fireside room - it's the best.

Marios in Hauppauge, on Motor Parkway. My FI took me here on our first date and we go there every anniversary..it is so romantic. Also, in Babylon Gemelli's restaraunt. Beautiful place, wonderful food, but I am still think Mario's is little more romantic.
