Message boards that have the traffic and number of posts we do archive their posts after a while to keep wacky things from happening and speed up the database server. We have been trying to avoid that but it looks like we may be at that threshold - even though the database is on a dedicated quad xeon machine. Also trying to avoid buying a new server seeing that this one just cost $35,000! Big Ouch!
