Room rates for out of town guests are soo expensive. What have people been getting as an average room rate?? In the Port Jeff area.
I called the Wyndam Wind Watch in Hauppauge and got a 2002 rate of $139 per night. This is the block rate if you book a minumum of 10 rooms.
The Marriott in Islandia is charging $149 per night this year.
And they have free shuttle service to the Ronkonkoma train station and MacArthur Airport. The hotel is really nice.
Which will be renovated & made in to a Radisson is getting $139 a nite for our July 4, 2002 wedding. I thought this was good for a holiday & they are not requiring a 2 nite stay for that weekend like everyone else was!!
In our contract for a block of 15 rooms the price was $119.00 each. Maybe if you block off more rooms, the rate will be less exspensive. Also I think there is a new hotel over that way (off of the LIE), it might be worth checking out. Good Luck
Danford's was rather expensive, but 3 Village was really reasonable & the Terryville Motor Lodge is nothing fancy, but it's clean, inexpensive & relatively close.

We used the Islandia Marriot, Econo-Lodge in Smithtown, Terryville Motor-Lodge and Three Village Inn.
Econo-Lodge was a big pain -- the staff does not really have it together. Same rate as Terryville and they are a bit better I think -- plus they just replaced carpeting and furniture in the rooms.
There are also lots of neat B&B's in Three Village/Port Jeff area. I think if you could guarantee that you'd fill their rooms (since most have only a couple of rooms) they would give you a good rate. Especially for wedding party or close family memebers you're sure will be there, and probably for several days.
Try the Gaslight Motor Inn on 112 in Medford. It's not that far from Port Jeff. It's around $60-$70 a night for a room. They've remodeled and it's really nice. They also have a restaurant/bar there too.
We blocked rooms at the Smithtown Sheridan - $129/night. The hotel is pretty nice, has just been remodled.
