Root canal anyone?

I am in sooooo much pain right now, getting it done tomorrow, but I've been in pain since Saturday. This is pretty horrible.

If anyone's had it, is the recovery bad?

I should have gotten the Vicodin.....

I've had several root canals. The recovery pain is nowhere near the pain you have before it's done. Your gums will be a little sore from where he sticks the novocaine, and the immediate area where the work's being done will be sore. Usually, well timed doses of Motrin or Advil (i.e. every 4 hours like clockwork) helps it a lot.

You'll be okay.

So true, the pain after is nothing like it is before. Good luck! Just sleep it off and have lots of milkshakes!! :)

I had root canal about one month ago. Honestly,

the pain is much worse BEFORE the procedure!!

I had a partial emergency root canal this morning. I need to go to a specialist to have it finished. The pain before was worse than the pain I have now, but I took a Vicodan this afternoon. I am right there with you.

exactly...people make dental work to be so bad...
with novican, you shouldn't feel much at all. (only thing you might feel is pressure to your tooth)

Recovery isn't bad. (can't eat on the side for several hours) but you probally already eating on the other side. Couple of days, you will fell great. actually as soon as root is gone, my headaches went away

recovery isnt bad at all. i have only had one root canal, but i remember the recovery being easier than after having a tooth extraction. i did find the procedure slightly uncomfortable, b/c i dont think i had enough novacaine.

look at it this way- you will feel much much better after it is done and plus you get those neat pain killers afterwards. like little favors from the dentist...

THE PAIN AFTER IS ONLY THE ANNOYING FEELING OF THE NUMBNESS WEARING OFFF, THATS ALL

THE WORST PAIN IN MY LIFE WAS BEFORE THE ROOT CANAL - WHEN I ATE SOMETHING ,EXPOSED THE OPEN ROOT, AND THEN ATE SOME MORE..IT WAS EXCRUCIATING

If you can handle the pain before the root canal you can handle the little pain after the procedure. I had very little pain after my two root canals and took Advil which seemed to work wonders.

i wouldn't recommend taking the vicodin if i was you, not a big fan of heavy duty meds. feel better
