Roslyn Country Club-thoughts

I've been having problems finding a site to hold my 50-70 reception. Roslyn Country Club will take me on a Sat afternoon. I loved the old wooden room
and even the indoor cocktail room Though I am opting to maybe having the cocktails outdoors. and the feel of being the only bride there for the day.

But I have no idea how this place is. or the food.

I never saw it done in Michigan, where I grew up, and I haven't seen it done in Massachusetts either. I have heard of it being done in some cultures, which could account for the regional aspect of it.

If it is owned by the same person who owned it a few years ago. Keep looking. I performed there for a summer party. The AC was broken. The windows were painted shut. The groom was livid. The owner was running around in a sweat suit and did not give a hoot about the party. There is more, but lets keep it at that. Try the George Washington Manor in Roslyn. It is owned by the same people as Milleridge Cottage. For that matter try the Milleridge Carriage House, not the Cottage for a small venue. It is very nice.

Is any one else having there wedding at John Anthonys? I fell in love with the place when I first went there for a frienda wedding.

I would advise against the Roslyn Country Club..I went to look at it for my wedding..and found the banquet people to be very snobby and full of themselves..also I heard from people who have been to affairs there that the food is not good. We wound up at Verdi's of Westbury. Good luck!

I just went to look at Roslyn County Club too and have a hold on a date in October. I would love to hear feedback also. I did a search to find previous messages about RCC and there seems to be mixed reviews. Although, when I went to look it made me feel better about the fact that they don't advertise and all their bookings are through word of mouth. If anyone out there can help us, please do and fast!!! Thanks.

A friend of a friend had her reception there and the caterer forgot to make the cake. They scrambled to put something together at the last minute, and it looked like a regular old sheetcake. Yuk. The place is really beautiful. I would just make sure you confirm and reconfirm all details if you decide to have your wedding there.

I'm getting really worried now! I recently put a deposit down on the Roslyn CC, for a 10/02 wedding. I found the employees to be very nice and accomodating, and I don't have to worry about the AC since my wedding will be in October, but I would like to avoid any serious problems, if at all possible!
I'm going there for a food tasting soon, but is the place that bad? Can anyone give me more info - many responses were vague, or all negative.

Definitely watch them on seating and room maximums. I don't know what they tell people but I've been to two weddings there and I'm sure they are telling brides double what it actually holds. It was ridiculous.

I'm getting married in May '02 in NY and also planning from Fairfax. I work in DC. Please let me know about your experience with M.A.C. I think there's a counter in the Lord & Taylor in Fair Oaks Mall and was planning to check it out.

I'm planning my wedding with about 110 guests. I think that will fit, but not too much more. The woman said 160 max, but I cannot see that.
SB - Since you've been to 2 weddings there, what else did you notice, good or bad? I'm trying to get as much info as possible!

Teri, were you able to find out any more info on the roslyn club? I'm considering it for a afternoon wedding for 50 people bu not sure. also do you know of a place to hold a non-denominal church wedding nearby or if one can be held at the duck pond? Thanks!!
