Yeah...it was right on Terry Rd....after it forks w/Smithtown Blvd.....$389 is a good price for Smithtown, BUT it did need TONS of work and obviously being on Terry Rd takes the appeal away.

yea but you HAD to have seen the one i saw today...
EVERYTHING would have to be changed EVERYTHING! And to pay 425,000 and have to pretty much gut the place...that is to high for me

389,000 would be a consideration if it needed some work..updates but i definately don't want to be on Terry itself...

And it seems that all the capes in that area are SOOO EXPENSIVE...
I just don't get it really...why spend 499,000 on a cape in smithtown when for just a little more get a HUGE house...
I think 499,000 for a cape is RIDICULOUS!

i went to one today, asking price is over 900k. i really love the area and although it is over my range, i just went out of curiosity. IMO, the place was a DUMP. very outdated (needs new kitchen, baths, foyer tile, railing, new carpeting or refinish wood on stairs, repave driveway and add landscaping). the bedrooms were all very tastefully decorated, but i was in shock of the condition of the rest of the house. perhaps i am a house snob, but IMO (no offense to anyone) pergo flooring doesn't belong in the LR and DR of a 900k+ home. not to mention the house stunk.

if this is what we have to look forward to, i might as well pack now and move down south.

We were out all weekend & all I can say is, for 500K, you can't get anything even decent or needs work!! FH & I are getting discouraged!

What the heck are you talking about!!?? Unless you are looking in Fort Salonga or Head of the Harbor, you can most certainly find something decent for $500K! Where are you guys looking??

Not quite, we are looking in Mandalay Bay Wantagh, Seaford Hidden Harbor, South Bellmore...It is very hard to find a house in these areas for $500K...

i guess i wasn't the only one that felt this way because the price dropped 50k as of today. still over 900k and IMO, still too expensive. DUMP might have been a little harsh, but it does need a great deal of work.
