I went on the Carnival Victory in April. It was my first cruise and I wasn't that impressed with Carnival. Perhaps other ships are better than the victory but I told myself I'd do RC before I did another Carnival cruise.

From what I understand, RC is a bit more upscale and Carnival is a bit more of a 'party' cruiseline....could have changed though....

Royal Caribbean.
So worth the extra money.
Better line, better service, better atmosphere.

I went on Royal Carribbean Grandeur of the Seas this past April (that's where he proposed!) and loved it! But honestly, we were on a boat, going all over the Carribbean, what's not to love!? There was a Carnival Cruise that had all the same ports of call as us, and we would meet people from that boat at every excursion -- and the people on Carnival seemed younger, more our age, while on RC, everyone was much older. We also went during a school break, so there were a lot of families rather than couples. The couples that were there were mainly much older. So, I think if Carnival is much cheaper and going to the same places, I'd try it out! Mind you, I've never been on Carnival, only RC -- but like I said, they literally had the exact same itinerary as us. HTH!

Okay, heres my stance on this. I use to cruise Carnival all the time and loved it. I cruised RC once and didnt love it, but only because we had a problem with a leak in our room. For our HM we did Carnival again and this time we were very disappointed -- they've lowered their standards ALOT when it comes to almost everything except food. IMO I would have rather paid a little extra and have a nicer time. The entertainment was cr@p, the ship (we did one of the biggest) wasnt very nice looking and the layout was retarded, and the service was average. Go with RC.

RC all the way

I've been on both and can honestly say I prefer Carnival. RC was just too stuffy for me. The entertainment was mostly for an older crowd (I went w/my mother one night to go see the Osmond brothers, she was very excited). They did not have too much going on during the day and my siblings and I found ourselves wandering the boat to try and find a place to sit and play cards. FH and I are going on Carnival for our honeymoon and I think its the better option b/c we are younger. Plus a family friend just went on the same cruise and said it was fantastic!

RC definitely.... i cruised on explorer of the seas and on marinier of the seas. i think royal carribean is a bit more classy. i guess it depends what youre looking for though. carnival is more a party line

Ive never been on a cruise, but FILs are aid cruisers. They have been on RC and think it is the best so far. This July, they went on Carnival (the new ship) and they said that for the $- it was so great. The service wasnt up there with RC, but the food was great and a lot op options.

One of my BM did a 3 day carnival Bahamas cruise and also loved it. I think they may have jumped up ther with their competition lately.

I've only been on RC and don't plan on going on any other cruise lines. People we met on our cruises told us they've been on others and don't plan on going back.

thanks ladies.. u'r opinions are pretty much aligned with what i thought about carnival.. when i went on the RC cruise, there was a Carnival cruise in port with us and i remember thinking WOW they are having soo much more fun..

this time i went on a carnival cruise and was like. wow that rc boat next to us looks so much better.. bigger.. nicer.. cleaner.. less smoking... i was rather disappointed on teh carnival cruise.. even the shows seemed to be corny. and i was IN one of them!!! (the carnival legends show.. i performed as Aretha Franklin)

i think we'll do royal carribean..

I was so bored on Carnival - I felt like there was never anything to do. I actually lost weight also because I thought the food was terrible. I also felt like there were kids EVERYTHING, like an infestation or something. (I love kids, I work with kids, so maybe I just notice more than they are around when I should be away from them )

I LOVED Royal Carribean. I felt like there was more to while onboard, the food was better, everything was a little cleaner.

If I ever cruise again I don't know what line I'd go on, but I know it will not be Carnival.

I was just on the Carnival Imagination and had a great time. I've been on RC Soverign of the Seas and it was a horrible experience. Staff was rude, food was gross and the rooms were small. My family uses Carnival alot so after RC they talked me into trying Carnival and Im glad I did.

I went on on a cruise with Carnival last summer and it was the best experience of my life. It was my first cruise so I have nothing to compare it against, but I couldn't find any complaints. I actually really loved their shows too. I plan on using Carnival for our honeymoon

If you've never been on a cruise and have nothing to compare it to, you'll love it. You are on a boat, with your love, laying in the sun while people bring you frozen drinks! At night you eat, dance, drink, and if the shows are cheezy you laugh at them. Then you go to the same ports any other cruise line goes to -- don't doubt your choices!

For your HM I would do RC. Everytime I have taken a carnival cruise it has been like one big party. Not that it wasn't fun, it just isn't what I imagine for my honeymoon. Another suggestion would be to check out Princess. There are a lot less children on Princess and the activities are more geared towards adults.
