RP BHB: Light Show: yes or no

I'm starting to look into getting a DJ, and they have so many different packages I'm having trouble deciding what to get. So if you have any opinions about this I'd really appreciate your help..

First thing, is it worth it to get the light show? What are the positives/ negatives of having it?

Also, should I get just a DJ or have 2 guys (DJ and MC)? Does it make a difference?

The light show I think I would get if you want that party look and I think it looks nice when you are doing your first dance.

Im struggling with the same thing about the dj and MC. FH is leaning more toward having both he doens't want DJ to try to juggle both going back and forth. So we shall see. I was told it depends on how many people you are having. DJ company told me if you have 200 and over you should have a MC also.

It's a party and the biggest one we are ever going to through, why not have a party atmosphere

Sorry I forgot the second part of the question. If you are having a large party, I suggest you get the MC. It will make things run smoother and get people up dancing while the DJ can concentrate on the music.

We have the DJ & the MC... most the of Dj companies we visited said that the DJ should be able to do what he does best (mixing music) so the MC would be better to have for announcements, etc.

We're not having any lights... i didn't like the feel of lights shining and moving all over.. that seemed too disco-ish to me for a wedding... but it all depends on what you like.

I'm going no lights. My wedding is during the day though and I feel its not worth the extra money for something you'll hardly see with all the (hopefully) sunshine!
