RP From 06 Board: I need some help - Situation with a BAD Florist...

Hi ladies,
As some of you may know I am not happy with my current florist and have decided to call it quits with them. We never signed a contract. The only thing the quote says is that once money has been given to secure the date that quote becomes a contract. I've already given them $200 for a deposit. So my question is this... Does anyone know the law in Nassau County for getting my money back in this situation? I'm giving them more than a years notice. Does anyone know if I can get my money back?

Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated!!

TIA!!!

Im not sure but if giving money is indeed accepting thier terms and making an official contract then I think you are out that money, I think deposits are usually non refundable. Not 100% sure but I remember all of my vendors stating that or reading it on the contract. GL!

If there is no stipulations in the contract - you may just lose the deposit.

I tried to get out of a contract as well - and the vendor didn't even offer to work with me at all...

are there any terms anywhere written that say you owe so much as time goes on? I have contracts that say if I cancel w/i 6 months, I still owe 1/2 the entire contract price.

No, it doesn't say anything like that. The only thing it says is putting money down to secure the date makes that the contract and if we need to back out we will get a store credit. What the heck am I gonna do with a $200 credit?? I want to put that money towards other things.

ugh there is your answer- store credit- NO refund. well maybe use that for another occasion or something else towards the wedding like flowers for your house the day of. I know 200 wouldnt get me much from the florist I used.
