RP from 08: Question for Catholic Brides or girls getting married in a Catholic church

Did anyone do FOCCUS Online? I'm on the rockville centre diocese webpage and considering doing it this online so we can do it at our own convenience. . .does it matter if I do it online or in person?

Not all churches require that. I didnt have to do it but if I had to do it - i'd go for the on line one.

I know my church requires it, I just hadn't heard of anyone doing it online so was a little weary!

NOt all churches requre it... mine didn't. Some churches just do Pre-Cana, some do FOCCUS and Pre-Cana.

I don't even know if they have it online, if not your church will adminster it to you.... from what I've heard, it's just a multiple choice test and then you compare your answers with your FH to facilitate dialogue about possible issues.concerns.

We didn't do Focus... We didn't have time and our Deacon was happy enough that we did pre-cana.. but I am sure not all churches are like that, so you would have to discuss it with your priest..

just did precana, my church did not require FOCCUS

It all depends on your parish, I got married at St. Dominics in Oyster Bay and they require you to do Pre Cana and Focus together, in person only and it was fine. Everyone was so nice, we did experience a few couples with major issues, we to this day still dont know what on earth they were doing there if one was so opposed to the catholic church, but anyway it went by fast and was informative enought. Not as bad as we thought it would be but the silly test you have to take is so ridiculous. They are trying there best to have all issues and situations out in the open between you and your Future Husband before your wedding day so there are no surprises about wanting or not wanting kids, money, spending, travel, in Laws and holidays and so on. Hoping it will make you a stronger union, does it work, well....It cant hurt, but all the couples there wanted to get married in the catholic church right and we all wanted it to go smooth as possible, we didnt know if something we put would prevent us from getting married there, so I felt like everyone else, most of the couples put what they though the church wanted to here, thats the sad part, we even did on a few questions, even though I am embarrassed to say that being a good catholic girl. Good luck, the online would be great if they allow it.
