FH and I bought a rabbit 4 years ago. She's like our little baby. We named her Trixie. But my allergies have gotten worse with her around. She's really fun to play with. She runs around and climbs on you if you're laying on the floor with her. She even gives little kisses every now and then. The one thing she does that can be annoying is, every once in a while, at night she scratches at the cage. If you have her in another room, other than the bedroom, you wouldn't even know, but she's in our bedroom, so every once in a while we dont sleep well.
She's well behaved. We don't even close the cage door, and she stays in there. She's fine with dogs, she's played with mine (shih tzus).
We'll give you the cage and water bottle and such.
I'd rather give her to someone I somewhat know because we really dont want to get rid of her and I want to make sure she's safe, but I can't take my allergies.

Re: RP from 08: Would anyone want a dwarf rabbit?
I'm truly glad that I could help out!....it was sooo funny because FH and I have been looking online at the rescue sites to adopt a female rabbit and here this post pops up...Talk about fate, lol. Don't worry she'll have a great home!! I love rabbits and she will be kept indoors only not outside in a hutch! I was also a vet tech for about 6 years at my past job and a dog groomer, lol. So you know I'm a true animal lover! Hopefully, her and Pumpkin will learn to be friends...but that has to be done slowly and carefully...little by little..and if not then I'll just love them both, lol. I'm soooo excited!! You can contact me whenever you want too..for updates and pics, lol.

Congratulations on the new baby!! I'm so happy this worked out. I kept asking FH if he thought Sniffles (my dwarf rabbit) would get along with another rabbit. They're such good pets.
Mine just turned 10 and she's still as spry and jumpy and cuddly as the day I got her!

If you do want another rabbit...it's often easier to bond two rabbits of opposite sexes, a female and a male, preferably both altered. Glad to her she's an doing so well at her age!!
Well I am happy this had such a happy ending although I am a little sad you have to give Trixie up Meg! At least now you know she will have a great home!

Re: RP from 08: Would anyone want a dwarf rabbit?
thanks - I guess since my bunny is spayed there's no danger in getting a male rabbit! I'm just worried about doing that to her at her age. She's one VERY spoiled rabbit! She's 100% litterbox trained so she even sleeps in the bed with us every night!

True..at her age I would probably just let her remain Queen off the house, lol....That is sooo awesome!! I wish I could do that with Pumpkin! He's allowed outside to roam the house but only when we're home and awake keeping an eye on him. He can be a bit destructive...he loves to rip up the fibers from the carpet and chew wires..etc...Back when I first got him we tried the whole cage free living thing and the litter box is no problem but he chewed through our internet and phone wires about 4 times. Now he has to have supervision and we have to bunny proof and block off anywhere he may get into trouble.

Re: RP from 08: Would anyone want a dwarf rabbit?
After 10 years, my entire apt is bunny-proofed but the first couple of years I oly let her out of the cage when I could watch what she was doing. She's mellowed a bit, but I still have to make sure she can't get at any wires. She stopped eating and digging at the carpet after I left a big old towel out on the floor for her to play around in. As long as there's one available for her to dig at and play with, she doesn't want to attack the carpet at all.
Like I said, she's still very active, but I think her favorite thing now is to get belly rubs and head scratches and she knows now that if she's bad, that doesn't happen!

my rabbit was the same way.... loved chewing on any wire he could get his little paws on I'm shocked he never got zapped....

I believe that everything happens for a reason.. so yay to Fate! And its so funny you mentions the pictures. When I was talking to FH I mentioned, that I was going to ask you to take a picture of Pumpkin and Trixie one day
