RP: from BHB: Sizing in BM Dresses Vs. Bridal Gowns

So I have been a BM many times and a MOH... and I've ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS had problems with BM dresses.. no matter what the material, designer, etc. I always have to order soooo many MORE SIZES UP (i think it's because im 'top heavier' than I am 'bottom heavy' ---not top as in big boobs... but as in broad ) and everyone says that Bridesmaid dresses usually run smaller (and I always order the big size and a lot of work is STILL REQUIRED because I am much smaller on the bottom.. waist, hip area.... )
For those of you who bought your bridal gowns... is it the same as bridesmaid dresses...??????

I'm usually a 4 (although I range from 2-6 depending on the brand) and the size 10 sample dress fit almost perfectly. We ended up ordering the next size up even though the 10 fit, because it's easier to make a dress smaller than bigger and my mom didn't think it was worth worrying if I gained 5 lbs before the wedding. I've been told my designer runs especially small, but I can't believe my dress is a 12!

At david's bridal they had their dress sizes and then 'women's dress sizes' The regular dress sizes ran SMALL on me.... the Women's sizes were just about normal (as reg. clothes).

i dont know about bm dresses but when I order my gown I am size 10 (street size) and I had to order a size 14 gown ( I felt so fat but they told me that bride gown tend to be smaller)

Yea I think they run about 2 sizes smaller than normal street clothing. That sounds about right from what I tried on too.

Seethat happened to me too..with one of my BM dresses taht I wore.... im usually an 8 in pants......but like a regular size large in form-fitted shirts.... and they ordered me a size 16 BM dress for one of the weddings I was in... I was on the treadmill EVERY NIGHT after that one! I have BM dresses that are a 12, a 14, a 16....not consistent AT ALL!!! but yet I still wear 8-10 street clothes..
but I think I am learning that I am just not even going to ask the size....
'JUST MEASURE ME---ORDER IT-----and MAKE ME LOOK FABULOUS'
How is that for a montra?
