RP from Honeymoon:: Smart Packing?

Really silly question, but DH and I are going away for three weeks, how the heck do you exactly pack for this? I don't want to be lugging large and many suitcases from island to island. Any tips on smart packing?

Thanks!

Re: RP from Honeymoon:: Smart Packing?

The easiest way to get a lot of stuff into a smaller suitcase is to roll everything instead of putting it in folded. FH taught me this and now I can basically pack double the amount of stuff in the same suitcase!

You should also find out if there is laundry service at any of the hotels you'll be staying at. Most hotels do have this. I would make use of it...3 weeks worth of clothes is A LOT!

Re: RP from Honeymoon:: Smart Packing?

I use mix and match pieces when I travel. That way you need less clothes but have multiple outfits. I also try to coordinate the colors in the mix and match. Get things that wash easy by hand (in the sink!) and don't need ironing.
I also now use the travel 'space bags' for underwear and socks and swimsuits.

Re: RP from Honeymoon:: Smart Packing?

I have a friend who swears by 'vacuum packing'. She'll take her undergarments, but them in one of those gallon freezer bags, get all of the air out and seal it tightly. She'll do it by outfit sometimes, depending on the material. I've never tried it but I've seen her fit a lot of stuff into a suitcase!

Re: RP from Honeymoon:: Smart Packing?

Ah yes, the rolling technique! I do have a lot of mix and match outfits, so that's good, and I'm almost positive the hotels have laundry service.

We also need to go to a wedding, so we need to bring a garment bag!

Vacuum seal, huh? I'll have to try that!

Actually the travel size space bag does not need a vacuum. you just 'roll' it to squeeze the air out. That way you can REUSE it when you travel back home.

I don't use it for shirts. I am too scared of wrinkles.

Re: RP from Honeymoon:: Smart Packing?

Don't pack a big suitcase... Lugging your bags in Greece is a pain in the *** and there is not enough room to store your stuff on the ferries, etc.

Pack 2 small cases... you'll be in your bathing suit all the time in Greece!!

Have fun!!
