RP: Getting stuff thrown in when under minimum.,,

See my post here

ETA: Thanks for the tip brit... I put it on BHB hoping to catch an '06ers eye. I thought some of the early Jan girls might have something to say.

To answer everyones questions...
My guarantee was 100 people, I HAVE to pay my per head price x 100 people. They said in the beginning if I didnt meet that, they'd 'work with me'.

For example, if its $100 a head, then I HAVE to pay them $10,000 for the night. If I only have 80 people coming ($8,000), they can throw some things in to make up for my $2,000 deficit. They will NOT refund your money.

Mel if you haven't done so already..throw this on the 06 boards..they would have a better idea than most of the 07 girls this early in the year

I'm confused (shocker!! lol) but...

You guys are under your guarantee?? Meaning, I am guaranteeing 200 people... so if you were me- that means that you have less than 200 people coming...

So you are asking what to do? Usually they will charge you for those people- BUT sometimes you can renegotiate or try and include vendors as meals in order to avoid this...

But I'm confused by you asking what you can have thrown in?? I don't think they'll give you anything extra-- I think, if anything, in that case-- you might get charged more I hope not-- maybe you can re-negotiate?

Am I way off?? Sorry if I'm lost with this...

I was thinking the same thing---I wouldn't expect to get stuff thrown in if I didn't meet my minimum.

Typically when you are under your minimum or guaranteed number you had in your contract you're basically S O L and have to pay for those guests you promised to them. But if you have an understanding, flexible BM they will sometimes throw in an ice sculpture, extra station at the CH or even like Dani said count your vendors as part of your guest list.

oooohhhh i get it now...

so basically, melissa knows she is under her minimum and has to pay for the plates-- but instead of getting 15 dinners wrapped up to go home with (lol) she would rather get something like an ice sculpter or whatever, right??

That way you are paying for something that you are actually using and stuff-- i had no idea that halls did that!! That's a good alternative if you can't meet your minimum and need to pay!

Thanks

yeah i was about to say the same thing. i know of plenty of girls that were under their min. and instead of having uneaten dinners...the BM said 'okay well you're 20 ppl short...that equals about $2000-3000K' or whatever...and then said 'how about we give you a chocoalte fountain instead...or upgrade your dinner choices.

they aren't losing money that way, cause they don't have to prepare as much of the 'extra' as they would if there were more guests. i.e.--a chocolate fountain is cheaper for 80 guests, than 100.

MY RH told me that if I were under, they would give me a credit for extra food or upgrades for half of the underage.

Example: if i were paying $100 a head & I am 10 people short ($1000) I can apply $500 to food upgrades.

I would ask them if you can do this. If not, I would have them add your vendors & children (if any) to the headcount.

i totally agree! I plan on bringing my big guns to the table to negotiate in the event i am under my minimum! At the very least, i expect to walk out with how ever many dinners wrapped up to go equal to the number of people i am under.

I hope I don't have to worry about this, but I know we have to pay for 120 min. no matter what and that does include the vendors.

Me neither...very good question. See where I am getting married at they are not strict with things like that. I told the BM I would prob. have about 100 guest..but on the contract he put approx 75..so I guess hes assuming 100 wont come..so its ok..and if 100+ come..then thats ok to.
