I went to NYC without my mom but I had asked her to go. I knew she hates the city, though.

My mom lives in AZ so she couldn't go the first time. I went alone first, then took my MOH and put a deposit down. When the dress came in my Mom and Dad came with me for the first fitting and saw the dress (pretty dramatic) Dad took pics and mom and I cried. Dad paid and we went on our merry way..a few days later was my bridal shower...what a week!

If your schedules conflict so much maybe you two should have a sit down and talk. Either one or both of you take a day off work and go shopping for a dress. I personally see noting wrong with going without her, but if she feels very strongly about it and you two are close, then try to make the time to do this.
In the begining of my engagment I went to a few shops without my mom. I made an appointment for her and I to go together but she refused to go! Two yrs later my brothers FW needed a ride to go dress shopping and all of a sudden she had the urgie to take me shopping for a dress too. By then I already found mine and I told her I have no interest in wearing anything from any of those stores.

You could go out looking without her and send her a picture of the dresses you liked. Or even go online and look at dresses then send her pictures of the dresses online that you like and ask her opinion. Then you'll have a basic idea of what you want and she will feel involved.

I went with my MOH. My mom wasn't hurt, she was happy that i found the dress i wanted. Her friends were the ones who were appalled...but my mom said she taught me to do things independently. you could just ask her if she would mind or not.![]()
