Was anyone actually married by the state with FH before the actuall wedding ceremony and reception? we booked our wedding for May 8th 2009 but we were thinking about making it legal may of 2008 but not really telling anyone, and then just get married by the church and celebrate with the reception in may of 2009.... does the idea sound stupid ?? and is it at all possible??

I just found out a friend of mine who got married last october was actually legally married by the state in june. They did it for insurance reasons, but you can def do that.

you can def. do that. a lot of people do it. for all different reasons.
