RP- SO SCARED-NWR

I have been getting dizzy spells lately and my doctor wants me to go for an ENG test tonight. I think it's a balance test for the inner ear. He said that it will make me dizzy and sick to my stomach. IMO, those are the worst feelings you can have. I'm so afraid to go. Has anyone ever had this test? Is it as bad as I fear?

I never had that test, but don't get scared it can be something small...There was a time i was getting dizzy spells constantly, i couldn't get up without feeling light headed.

Basically i was on a diet eating extremely healthy, didnt starve myself infact ate more times a day...I made sure to eat lots of protein and everything but i had cut out meat and most iron...Basically i wasn't getting enough iron in my diet which is what caused the dizzy spells.

Not saying youhave the same thing but just to show it can end up being something small...dont stress yourself out now worrying about what it might be...Good luck

maybe I am thinking of something else but I thought that was a nerve test. They activate the nerve with a stimulating device. I am not so sure but I have had that done and its totally fine. I thought it was called ENG. Anyways I have found its never as bad as you fear it would be, I have had many different tests in the past with wierd things I have had. Just try not to dwell on what it WILL be like and deal with it after the fact. HTH Good luck with it!

The nerve test is an EMG

my mom had that, she suffers from Vertigo. She does get very sick and dizzy when she gets the tests but it only lasts a day or two!

A woman in my office just had that test done last week, and was back at work about an hour after having it done. she said she felt a little dizzy during it, and wasn't too hungry for the rest of the day, but other than that she was fine... don't worry!

(i have had the tilt table test, and that one sucked!)

Good luck. I was getting dizzy for a LONG time, and finally went to an ENT, it turns out I had dual ear infections-it took over a year to get rid of them and countless antibiotics.

I've never had the test, but I wanted to wish you good luck.

I'm suuuuuure it will all work out okay. Try not to be nervous about it. (I know, I know, easier said than done, as I'm a chronic worrier!) Like others said, the worrying is always the worst part, and the test is never as bad as you think.

GOOD LUCK!!!

i was dizzy for about 2 years (to the point of falling over the first year). turns out i had benign positional vertigo. basically something in my inner ear was off and they just have these exercises you do (basically laying down and turning your head to the side) that makes everything settle right. not a big deal. what kinda dr are you going to? try an ent.
