RP: what is the rule with inviting people from work?
I have relationships with LOTS of people from work but I cant afford to invite them all. I know that some people say 'either all or nothing' but Im not in the position to do that. I know of at least 4 people that will be invited but Im not sure about others. What are you all doing? Do I HAVE to have a guest invited if they are not in a relationship? Is that tacky?

I'm wondering the same thing my office has at least 30 people and its like a big family, but of course there are a few I'm close with so I dont know what I'm going to do they they think its a Human Resources wedding (thats the dept i work for ) so I'm stumped.

my office is similar, about 30 people....I know one girl who just invited coworkers without their significant others....but I have had others tell me they don't like to go to weddings without their significant other....I think what I am going to do is invite only the people in my office I have hung out with outside of work, with their significant others

I'm having the hardest time with this. My FH and I met at work, so everyone thinks they have been a part of our relationship from the time we started up until the time we got engaged. He no longer works there, but people have been coming up to me saying that they really want to come. I'm trying to keep the list down, and I know I'm going to upset a lot of people. This has been the hardest part of the whole planning process!

I haven't decided yet either. I work in a hospital and can't possibly invite all of the people in my unit. I'm considering inviting my 2 assistant managers and my manager. There are others that I would like to invite but I don't want to insult anyone.

I wish I could invite some but, b/c of my position it is frowned upon to socialize with subordinates.

I'm still clueless and I have 2 weeks to decide before invites go out.
I know I'm not inviting everyone, unless I have to make the minimum.

I read somewhere a while ago that it is neccessary to invite your boss, bu that is all. That's ettiquitte, though- if you personally want to invite some, but not others- thats difficult. I am doing the all or none approach, but inviting only the bosses.

I have a similar problem, I only have about 3 people I want to invite from work so I asked a co-worker who was married a few years ago and she said she also only invited a few close friends and no one was insulted. Weddings are expensive. One person I am inviting is married, one lives with someone and the last is single but I would invite them all with guests because some people don't want to come alone.

i'm having a hard time with this too.. not sure who to invite, not sure if i should invite + guest...
might just end up doing boss + 1 guest too.

I work in a small office about 7 people so I plan on inviting everyone in my office with a guest.

I have too many bosses, so that rule won't work. I have a group of people I eat lunch with, those are the ones I am inviting.

I invited the people I see outside of work, and the director of my department. It worked out well, nobody was offended, and some others said they planned on coming to the church (none actually did).

I have a similar problem. I think I am going to have to only invite people that I hang out with outside of the office and maybe the ones that work for me since we are always talking about it and it might be weird if I don't. I know it is 'etiquette' to invite your boss but I an really not a fan of him....not sure what I'm going to do about that.

There really is no rule, you are under no obligation to invite co-workers. I have very good relationships with a few that I work with, but I cannot possibly invite everyone. I decided on inviting my closest ones, ones that I see outside of work, ones within my department and their spouses (which is only two people) and my immediate bosses. But again, you can invite whomever you wish.
