We currently, out of 140 invited, have 60 who are going (and people keep dropping) and 27 we havent heard from.
We have a 100 minimum......
I really want to cry right now.

even if we track down, we are under numbers.
Can we even send out invites now? we are 28 days from the wedding. We have to give our final count the week of the wedding, we would have to do RSVP date of Dec 1, and thats 2 weeks
Is that insane?

Would you consider opening up to LIWers? I've seen some girls on other boards do it.
I've been invited (via phone) to weddings last minute because of this very situation and was actually very honored that the bride and groom thought of me.

Don't worry honey, it'll work out. Come up with a B list and send those out asap and try to get those in in a week or so, or call your missing 27 and figure out what they're doing...

I think people understand in these situations. I was invited last minute to a wedding and I was just happy to be invited. People understand that weddings are expensive and they will just be happy to be invited . What about some people from work?

ohh nooo..im so worried about this happening..ours have been out for a few weeks and we have only gotten 5 back..we have until the 16th but i can feel this happening...I think all the previous ladies have really good advice with inviting some liw girls..tracking down the last people..and if you can get some invites out really quick i would and if anyone wonders why so late..blame it on the holidays....sooo sorry this is happening

Yes think that's a good idea as well...or you could invite other people that you know, that maybe you couldn't invite, via phone.
I think an invite via phone with an explanation and saying 'We would love to invite you' is a very good idea.

I'd invite people still. Coworkers, friends, neighbors, whomever. You'll be paying for them anyway, why not?
Also, instead of paying separately for your vendors, include them in your head count. It will save you money in the long run if you are paying for empty seats anyway!

Oh no! Maybe invite old friends and co-workers. I've been to a couple weddings where FH and I were invited last minute. I realized we were last minute add-ons, but I was still honored and went to most. If not, I'm sure some LIW girls wouldn't mind filling your seats.
Good luck and start tracking those stragglers down, if nothing but for peace of mind
