I'm going for March 19th rsvp date. anything around that time is good. You need to give yourself time to get a final headcount together and track down all the people who don't rsvp on time.

As for wording, I think we are going to do this:

The favour of your reply is requested on or before March 19, 2008

_______Accepts with pleasure
_______Regrettfully declines

I don't think we are using the number of people line, but alot of people seem to do that. So I guess just add:
Number of guests attending_______

I always feel like that implies someone can bring a date, and not all of my invitees are getting plus guest...we're not having many children either, so I don't want to open up to couples bringing their young kids along.

its very clear. I think the response date is good too just in case you have to track people down you have some time. Also if you have a B list you can send out more invitations.

I'm going to leave out the 'number of persons attending' part too... I've heard too many stories of people just adding on whoever they want, and suddenly and invite for two turns into four or five! What makes people think that it's ok to write down names that are not on the invitation?!?! Ok I'm done.
