So my invites went out on Saturday and I get a text today while at the gym from a girlfriend of mine [her invite was addressed to mr and mrs X]
'Invite is beautiful.... I am putting Bob [husband] down as a yes but I am not sure if he will be there because he may get stuck at work. Oh and I don't have anyone and you said it was okay to bring them so i am.'
I said that 18 months ago when I didn't have a guest list so now I have 280 people invited for a room that holds 260
How do I text her back that now the girls cannot come because I don't have room really plus I had to cut some kids that are family that I would rather have there then her kids
PLUS she didn't let kids come to her wedding like 6 years ago
Also her husband is going down as a no I am not paying for a maybe [sorry]

Re: RSVP Drama Already!
ugh iam dreading the rsvp drama to start as well. but i would say something along the lines of 'you know how weddings go, so iam going to put him down as a no right now, when you have a def answer let me know, and as of right now i only X amount of seats reserved for you, hopefully with advance notice you can find a sitter, since FH & decided it would be best to have an adult only reception'

Re: RSVP Drama Already!
We are having kids at the wedding 3 ring bearers age 3 5 and 7 1 9 month old 'ring bearer' my mother's 6 year old great niece and the 7 and 9 year old brothers of my junior bridesmaid
I don't mind kids I just don't have the room
why can't people just read what the invite says and not put me in this position

Re: RSVP Drama Already!
i hear you. FH family will prob want to bring kids. we are only having the BP kids and our own neices and nephews. i was considering writing 'please dont bring your children' on little cards and dropping it into the invite envelopes! LOL hope this works out for you. for my sisters wedding we had someone say they coulsnt find a sitter and my sisters response was 'aww well it would have been nice to have you there, but i totally understand'

I love that response
I want to write 'You have 60 days to find someone in your family to watch your brat children I am sure you can find someone'

FMIL told me that one of FH's uncles probably doesn't believe in babysitters. I just said, 'oh really, thats a shame!' and left it at that. I wont be strong armed to having a 2 year old at my nighttime wedding. Sorry.

I think this is a really tactful way to handle it

Let me be the devil's advocate here.... You told this friend that it was okay that she brought her kids? Then you need to either let her know that things have changed and as of right now you can't fit them, but if the rsvp's come in short of your minimum you will add them. Or you have to bite your tongue and hold up to your word. Sorry, just how I see it! Still love you though,

Yeah, I kind of feel this way too. If it were me, I'd suck it up and let her add the kids. I'm sure you will have enough no's to cover it

Re: RSVP Drama Already!
Jennie when I said she could bring them I didn't have a guest list and was inviting everyone and their mother. I th ink I am going to go with the fact that we over invited people and we do not have enough room for the kids. I feel bad but as we all know wedding planning doesn,t always work out
By the way this was my first rsvp only 129 more to deal with
