RSVP Hell

RSVP Hell

I just need to vent and I'm not sure what to do...

I just received a RSVP for 9 people... Its the two parents, plus their 7 kids!! Its on FH's side so I can't really say anything to them myself and FH and his family thinks its fine.

I also invited an aunt that is now divorced from my mom's brother. I invited her and A guest - her rsvp is for 3 people!! My mom thinks she's bringing her boyfriend and her sister.

I just don't understand people! I can't afford this!!! I'm ready to start bawling.

i'm so sorry! i don't understand why people don't realize that the invite is ONLY for the names written on the envelope.

I feel like they know, but they don't care

We got people who didn't even RSVP and SHOW UP at my brother's wedding. We also got people who RSVP'd for 2 people and showed up with their elderly parents. Who are these people?!?!?

I'm sorry you're going through this. We're sending our invites this weekend so I am sure I will join you in RSVP hell soon.

Re: RSVP Hell

Depending on how close those relatives are on FH's side, can you talk to your FMIL and see if she can call them on your behalf? Maybe explain your room only holds so many people, and you specifically are trying to keep the number down?

wow

rude, rude rude

put your foot down and tell your FH that the 7 extra people isn't just chump change---and that you are NOT giving in. sometimes just venting on here isn't enough and you have to stand up for yourself about it. maybe that way he will see how much this is bothering you. in turn you should contact the relative who is bringing 3 from your side and let them know -- its not okay.

people will walk all over you and your wedding if you let them! don't let them guilt you into letting them tell YOU who is invited to YOUR wedding!

I already spoke to FH about it, he says they're friends with his mom and she wants them there, price isn't important.

Well of course not since my FH and I are paying for EVERYTHING!

I already had my mom call my aunt and say you can bring ONE guest and she got really mad saying she won't go. My response? I don't care. I think I've about had it with this whole wedding process. I kind of wish we eloped

Did he let them join? My RH said if we had that we had to pay cash then and there... does that mean I have to carry a wad of cash in case someone decides to crash?!

trust me--i know the feeling! if i had a nickel for everytime i THOUGHT and SAID that last sentence---i probably could have paid for my wedding 10 x over!!

but just keep telling yourself--this WILL be worth it in the end!

i too had someone who crossed out the '2' in the area we put for 'we have reserved ___ places in your honor' -- and put a '7' in its place. my DH's brother and his wife did that. guess what? they didn't come cause we said their 5 kids couldn't come....and our wedding still rocked!

I was thinking the same thing. I had that same situation and got to a point where i really felt like i hated planning and wish we eloped. But MJDoc12 is right...it WILL be worth it!

I'm sorry, but I would definately put my foot down and say NO WAY! People are ignorant and rude and need to be called out on it.

I told FH and our entire family that if there were any shenanigans, there would be hell to pay. For instance, we are not having any kids at our wedding. No kids, means no kids....not, 'oh can you make an exception for little Susie-Jo'-Absolutely not!

It's your wedding, you have the right to call the shots.

Good luck!

I love how people think that if they get an invite they can bring whoever they want with them, you know what? I am going to my friends house for dinner, i think i'll bring 10 of my friends with me, she won't mind right?

haha, I wanted the no kids wedding too, but my FH was adamant that kids be allowed to go and since I would only be excluding 3 kids on my side of the family as opposed to 20 on his side, I lost that argument. It would've been nice though...

I know!! That's what I'm going to do to my aunt the next time she invites me somewhere. Oh I'll bring my friends, my dog, my neighbor's dog.. you don't mind right?

Re: RSVP Hell

that is rediculous! People dont get it. If others were invited then they would be written on the card or sent a seperate invite. Sorry huh! I would call them and tell them that it is an inviation only party- only the person written on the invite can come. But say it nicely so there are no fights! jmo!
