RSVP Hell

Re: RSVP Hell

Agreed. I would have to let them know. I went through this. Some opted out. Others understood. We stated from day one only the wedding party kids because we are not paying for kids to run around and get on people's nerves.

I had to be firm. If not, it would be a financial nightmare. If they care about you, they will oblige. If not, then they are not in your corner and you don't need anyone around who is going to make it hard for you.

He agreed to call his people and I called mine.
For late rsvps, I asked my aunt to take care of it and his mother took care of his.

I promise when you get over people getting over themselves it get so much better!

Re: RSVP Hell

you have my total sympathy!!
I am now 4 days past my rsvp date, and still missing about 10.
Three are relatives. The rest are friends
Some I only have the addresses for, some have not answered my email.
I feel like a bill collector.

awww, I'm so sorry. Can you be honest with them and just say there isn't room?

What the heck- why do people assume they can just bring everyone and their uncle?!?

I can see people expecting to bring their kids, but why would you expect to just add your sister

I'm sorry..people stink

I just opened an RSVP today from a girlfriend of mine and the response was for 2 to attend, meanwhile I didn't invite her with a guest. She doesn't have a boyfriend, so who is she planning on bringing? What is wrong with people sometimes!

YOUR FIRST MISTAKE WAS SENDING A BLANK RSVP....WHERE SENDING AN RSVP FOR THE PERSON AND WE ARE PUTTING PLUS 1 GUEST AND A SPACE FOR THE NAME OF THAT 1 GUEST. WHEN YOU LEAVE IT BLANK PEOPLE ASSUME THAT MEANS THEY CAN BRING WHO THEY WANT. BUT WHEN YOU PRE-PRINT THERE NAME AND 1 GUEST THEY KNOW THE DEAL. YOUR PAYING FOR THE WEDDING YOUR GUESTS ARENT SO TELL THEM YOU ONLY ANTICIPATED A CERTAIN AMOUNT COMING.

Both our parents don't want to return the rsvp card, they want to keep it as a memento! We told them that if we didn't get the cards, we weren't counting them We went over our max capacity by about 20 guests, turns out it was a good thing. We must not be too liked, we are at 50 50 for the yes and nos. I guess inviting 160 we will get 80 at this rate! At least our min will be covered. we are fine with it though. Some of the reasons are quite funny to see how they feel they need a long winded explanation----no is fine.

My girlfriend that I am not very close with did the same exact thing. She left a message on my cell and then sent the rsvp with an off/on boyfriend. I know she is broker then me, I invited her knowing she would not really be able to give a gift. Now I have to pay for 2 people, 1 I don't know and the other that I am only minimally friends with!

I just need to vent and I'm not sure what to do...

I just received a RSVP for 9 people... Its the two parents, plus their 7 kids!! Its on FH's side so I can't really say anything to them myself and FH and his family thinks its fine.

I also invited an aunt that is now divorced from my mom's brother. I invited her and A guest - her rsvp is for 3 people!! My mom thinks she's bringing her boyfriend and her sister.

I just don't understand people! I can't afford this!!! I'm ready to start bawling.

People are so rude!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are paying then you call the shots...period. If your future in-laws are willing to pay for them then that's fine. But they need to know that you can't afford 7 kids unless THEY pay for them. ...

Yeah, this girl too. She's famous for going to weddings with no card. I basically know not to get a card from her,but if she's going to bring someone, that is 2 people I am not going to get money for. I don't think so.

i'm so sorry! i don't understand why people don't realize that the invite is ONLY for the names written on the envelope.

I feel like they know, but they don't care

I agree I think people know who is invited, but they just do what they want.
