Why do people wait to send back their RSVP. they got a STD 1 year ago, and I sent out the invites over a week ago and only got 40 responses. Why is it so hard to check a box and write your name and put it in the mail. it takes all of 40 seconds to do!!!

People are procrastinators! I didn't expect many repsonses in the first week. Our rsvp date was Wed and the calls have started now. We are waiting on 40 people and other issues. The problems have begun. The hotel block is off and the rooms are booked up, so my mom and FH's cousin doesn't have a room that night. We can't get a straight answer from a lot of people. It is frustrating. I was actually shocked when I just invited an old friend that I am talking to again, this past week, and he responded 2 days later-yes. I was happy about that.

I agree and feel your frustration.
My wedding is in less than a month and my RSVP date was last week - I am still waiting on people to RSVP.
People procrastinate, people think 'they know I am coming', or people simply don't have the common courtesy to respond at all.
If my friend's four year old daughter can grasp the concept of an RSVP, why can't adults?

I think people are procrastinators in general. Even though I think that after a week of the invites gone out 40 RSVP's is pretty good. JMO. I think as long as they reply by the RSVP date they're OK.

I think I do get it -- People do it because in the past when they've had to RSVP to other events the due date passed and they were given a second or a third chance to reply.
The last wedding I went to the MOH was still calling people the NIGHT BEFORE THE COUNT WAS DUE. That's just ridiculous and it makes people lazy.

I often wonder that myself. My sister is totally one of those slackers...but now that she is waiting for RSVP's for my shower...she understands. Is that what it takes???

Human nature some people do it as soon as they get it and some people wait until the last minute. I was also told by a friend she is 'working on dates' so I know that's why she hasn't sent it in yet.
I love the 2 mystery replies I got...... one says yes will attend no name and has a san fran post mark on it. The only person I invited from San Fran is my cousin chris and he said he just got back from Afganistan and didn't send it in yet. So I was thinking did someone mail it on vacation b/c he's the only person in san fran i invited. No he's not I just remember i invited one other guy I used to work with. Thank you for writing your post I just figured it out!!!!!!!!!!

We numbered ours, to avoid that issue. I can't believe how frustated I am getting. Not only do I need to have a head count in time to give to the hall, I am having them done by ink spun. I need to add time for that and the shipping time. FH said he would drive there again if need be, but it shouldn't have to be. We made the rsvp one month in advance. Then, my mother is drivingme completely insane. She works for one of my cousins and said one call is enough and don't bug him again, put him as a no, or I will cause a problem with her job. One of my closest cousin and her sister didn't respond. I left 3 messages with her now since Wed and she hasn't called back. My mom said she is probabaly away-agh. All my coworkers aren't coming either, mostly for financial reasons. Others said they 'may' bring a guest and we haven't hit the min yet...I am getting the biggest headace.

Because people are inconsiderate... its the truth. RSVPs were the worst part of planning for me. The things are stamped and ready to go. All they have to do is be thrown in the mailbox. The simple task of RSVPing just proves that some people are selfish and lazy.

People are just idiots honestly.. I can't STAND that!!! My RSVP date was 8/1 and I received 3 in the mail on Friday!! On top of that, I didn't get back about 40 cards and I had to call.. People just really are LAZY!!!

I almost forgot -- I got an RSVP yesterday and 3 friends replied yes on one card -- but I sent them each their own invites At least they did it before the deadline
My brother jokingly told me that he couldn't send back the RSVP because he needed that stamp to mail a bill (so ghetto ) but it actually turned out that he knew he wasn't going to make it
