rsvp insert question: are you supposed to include the line ' __number attending'?
On the rsvp card, I have two lines, one that says accepts with pleasure and the other says declines with reget.
then it occurred to me, am i supposed to include a line for ' ___number attending'
not all guests were were invited with a guest. and some members are allowed to bring children while others are not. i guess the number attending line will let me know if they plan to bring their kids or not but i also don't want people that were not invited with a guest to think they can by accounting for them..
who did or did not include a number attending line?
what do you think?

I was going to until we invited only 1 person and didn't want them to assume they were bringing a guest..

i did. i figured it would make my life easier when doing the counting. people invited with guests either said 'with guest' or 'and Bob Jones' or whatever. i hope no one would be presumtuous enough to think they could add on as many people as they want, but i guess u never know

We didn't put # attending, because I dont want the singles invited to think they are entitled to bring someone and others with uninvited kids to assume 'of course the kids are invited too'. HTH

We put number attending on ours. Do you know we had a guest that whited out that number and then wrote in 3 on the will be attending line. I just thought it would make life easier to do it that way so people knew if they were invited with a guest or not (even though I addressed the envelopes using the proper rules).

I used the line. Hopefully people will not be rude with adding additional people. BUT from what I have seen on this website I am sure someone will be.

i did nto include that line... i didn't want people assuming they could bring everyone and their mother... the people that were invited with or without a guest was explicitly stated on the outer envelope. i think by adding a line like that can be dangerous... people are rude and may just add whomever they want and they you don't know who the heck is coming.

If you do put number attending___, they might assume they can bring someone. Just write their names on the envelope and they know whos invited

i did:
Will Attend ( ) Not able to attend ( ) Number Attending ( )
It makes it alot easier to know how many people are attending from their family.

I was reading about invitation etiquette and it suggests you address inner envelopes to person and guest. Outer envelope only person's name. Also, as for the RSVP, you can add that line under the accepts with pleasure line, or if you know that person is going to bring just that person, then don't add it...it's really your choice.
