by who's coming and who isn't coming to your wedding?
A cousin of mine told me at my shower that she can't wait for the wedding --- and then I got a NO response in the mail yesterday... weird! I was very surprised...
Anyone else surprised at their responses?

Yah, I have a guy friend that I've been friends with since 8th grade and he replied NO. But then again, it shouldn't surprise me.....his wife was never that friendly towards me

I got a few good ones. My Uncle who we really do not speak to said Yes and a friend of mine that moved to TX 5-years ago said Yes.
I had a few shockers on the No part also, but nothing to loose sleep about if you know what I mean.

My grandfather, his wife and my Aunts (all on my dad's side) aren't coming. Tht was pretty surprising. They're all complaining because the wedding is on a Friday. However my dad's best friend who's all the way in Ontario Canada RSVPed Yes that he wouldn't miss it and I haven't seen him in almost 10 years. His RSVP made me really happy.

What surprised me is I have extended people that I am not close to in my family calling my mom and saying they want to bring small children-I haven't seen them in at least 10 yrs-they're lucky they're getting a freakin invitation!!!

we were VERY shocked at some no's and yes's...a LOT more ppl said no than we expected. but in the end, i just cared about the ones that showed up
it really is true that when it comes to your wedding, you will be shocked at the ppl who you are SURE wouldn't miss it for the world and those who you didn't think would come.

Yes we were floored by some people who said No. One of FH's friend sent back a no and never even called him or anything. This is a close friend who we really expected to be there.
We found out later, he had a real excuse, but a head's up would be nice.
We actually weren't sure we were going to meet our minimum, it looks like we are ok now, but I recommend everyone has a B list.

I have a friend I haven't seen in over a year & only spoke to once or twice since then. We used to hang-out all the time before he met his wife so I assumed he wouldn't come but we just got a YES reply from them !

Re: RSVP: Is anyone surprised...
As for family....i had 1 NO that hurt me like hell. My cousin in GA whom I was always close too didnt come. Didnt even RSVP till VERY late and used a lame excuse.
As for friends..I got 1 no that I honestly didnt think she was gonna come but she said NO so when I opened it I shouldnt of been shocked! I was and was veryyy sad over it. But a few weeks later she and I got together and she said she can come! I was soooo happy!!!!
for everyone else....I didnt even care. If they couldnt come for valid reasons fine but for those who just didnt want too..or to cheap bc it was holiday time....Well we were better off w/o them!!

I'm surprised that so far I've only gotten YES responses and we were banking on 50 people not coming.

Yes. I invited my cousins - but they live out of state and I haven't seen them since I was 10 - they responded yes! I am glad they are coming... but i was a little stunned!
FH's brothers are both not coming. One is not coming because he is clueless. The other one is just a d*ck. Neither one had the courtesy to actually send an RSVP - but the message was loud and clear. I shouldn't be surprised but I guess I am.

Re: RSVP: Is anyone surprised...
I've been pleasantly surprised at a few...a family my parents are really close to who've known me since I was little, our friend and her boyfriend who live in Amsterdam, and two of my cousins who I was close with when I was young, but haven't seen in about 5 years. The surprising yeses are all from far away too, so it's nice to know people can spare the time and expense to travel to NY. None of the nos have been shockers yet.
