RSVP - is it just me...

Or, does this seem unusual:

FH's friend RSVP'd that he wasn't coming, wrote on the other side of the rsvp card that he's so sorry but will be unable to attend (no reason why). that he wishes us a loving and beautiful life together, and that the yankees make it to the playoff during this challenging year. He also stuck a check for $300 bucks in the RSVP card.

yankees thing is a little weird, is he a huge fan?

comments are really sweet -- does it really matter why they can't make it?

check is even sweeter! very generous and nice to send a check for that amount (what i mean is not a token amount like $25 but an amount that they'd probably give if they did attend the wedding)

yes, i agree the comments were sweet (except yankees part - that was just funny/strange). he's a huge fan and has gone to games with FH. i guess i thought it mostly the check part that was weird. oh well.

I agree, the Yankee part is wierd but otherwise no. You're supposed to send a gift even if you don't go. He just killed two birds with one stone... sent back the rsvp and sent his wishes with his gift.

Do the Yankees have a game the day you're getting married? Maybe that's where he's going and can't make it.

Pretty generous guy....can I have his name and address, so I can invite him to my wedding? Hopefully the Yankess will be playing that day and he won't be able to attend....but he'll send a check...hahahahahaha.

Wow! That was really nice of him. He understands the notion of sending a gift even if you can't make the wedding. The yankees comment is a little strange though.

The check was definitely very generous. The Yankees comment was weird, but if he's a huge fan then it's probably not so weird coming from him.

I am sure he didn't think you were just looking for a check. He probably feels really bad he can't attend. So he gave a generous gift. Thats awesome!

You are right. I don't mean to be unappreciative I just know ppl have different feelings about weddings sometimes and was probably just being paranoid.
