FH's friend RSVP'd that he wasn't coming, wrote on the other side of the rsvp card that he's so sorry but will be unable to attend (no reason why). that he wishes us a loving and beautiful life together, and that the yankees make it to the playoff during this challenging year. He also stuck a check for $300 bucks in the RSVP card.

Before my wedding I didnt know that etiquette says you should send a gift if you RSVP no...never knew-so when we got out first check in the mail prior to the wedding didnt really know what to do. But yep, its normal but not always going to happen

yes, i agree the comments were sweet (except yankees part - that was just funny/strange). he's a huge fan and has gone to games with FH. i guess i thought it mostly the check part that was weird. oh well.
Do the Yankees have a game the day you're getting married? Maybe that's where he's going and can't make it.

No, that's not unusual. If I can't attend, I have put a gift card or the little 'I bought something from your registry' thingy you can get in the response.

i dont think its weird at all. he gave a gift cuz he couldnt make it but still wanted to wish you well..and the yankee comment...he was just probably making a joke...he wishes you a good life and wishes the yankees win. my FH always messes with our friends RSVP cards....he draws pictures and writes messages...the last one he colored the entire thing in highlighters.....he likes to make an impression..dare to be different than everyone elses boring RSVP
