RSVP ????? over a year late!

my mother just called to tell me the check I've been waiting on finally came in the mail and...

mom-'you got a really weird thing in the mail'
me- 'ok??'
mom- 'its an RSVP from your engagement party.. can i open it?'
me- 'i guess so'
mom- 'its from lynn **********, they wont be attending'

our engagement party was February 28 2009

there was a note inside from an oot guest:

'megan, recently found this while going through some papers, thought I sent it to you, figured I'd send it now as a keepsake, love, lynn'

and you all thought your guests took forever to RSVP!

WHHHAAAAATTTT??? are they kidding??!!!! why did the bother sending the damn thing?! yeah you save the invite as a keepsake, not a random rsvp, why are people so wierd???!!!

funny story about that.. they live in VA and my parents go down there and stay with them all the time (they have a key to their house) and my parents are moving down to VA close to them, THEIR brother and sister live down the block from us, so they come up to NY and stay with us often.

so after we booked our hall they came up to visit, its the last day, morning, and lynn asks for an envelope, so I go and get a business envelope for her... she takes it, turns around and hands it back. she put a check in it and a note written on an envelope saying 'sorry so late, happy engagement'

the check WAS dated february meanwhile this happened in like june or july... she had written it but never took it out of the check book because she never got us a card.
so we did get a gift.

So the gift was 4 months late and the RSVP over a year- boy this girl really is something else
