RSVP story
I have a funny story but not funny, more like *bangs head* but if I don't laugh I'll yell.
One of FH's long time friends was invited. This is the guy who bought us a six pack of beer in a paper bag as a gift to our engagement party. Yeah, him. Anyway, he was invited as 1 because he doesn't really 'do' relationships and he knows everyone at about 3 tables. Dan's on the phone with him about a month ago and he says something like 'you're coming to the wedding, right?' and he says 'yeah but like am I allowed to bring someone or is it just me?' The answer to this is obviously no because his RSVP card said 'we have reserved 2 seats in your honour', FH, of course says 'well you don't have a girlfriend or anything right?' and he says something like well I have as close to a girlfriend as what you'd consider my girlfriend...what??? So Dan tells him he can have a guest, fine, whatever I don't care about 1 plate.
Fast forward to us not getting a card back and I ask him to call and casually ask him to send back the card. He's like 'I told you we're coming why do I need to send the card back' Dan tells him it's easier for us to give the calligrapher. Mike tells us that he lost the RSVP card AND the invitation and doesn't know when or where the wedding is either. Dan fills him in and says he'll send him a message on Facebook reminding him of the details. Very classy, formal, good job baby...
It gets better. Mike goes on to say that he and his 'not girlfriend' had a huge fight but he doesn't think they'll break up but he isn't sure so can he let us know how many people when the time gets closer. Dan of course says yes, I would have said NO you were invited as one and if this girl you're, you know, and you aren't even stable I'm not paying for her. He says he'll call us later to tell us if they made up. He doesn't call. He calls today and leaves us a voicemail saying that she wants to come and hopefully it doesn't make the wedding a logistical nightmare for us. FH says something like at least he's being nice about it and I take a deep breath.
