RSVP vent

Okay...Our rsvp date is today and a handful of people still didn't respond. One person claims although he's definitely coming, he THINKS he will have a guest and is just now going to ask 2 women and he doesnt know which will say yes or if either will say yes. He says he would let FH know 'Monday'. I don't understand why, when they had invites since March, they aren't considerate enough to straighten out who they're bringing by the rsvp date. Hello, we have to pay and give a final headcount!

Several others I and FH emailed and called ad nauseum and still haven't heard back. I told FH to tell them if they don't respond by 3:30 p.m. tomorrow afternoon theres no guarantee they'll have seats if they decide they can make it. Planning a wedding is stressful enough. It's that much harder when your guests don't cooperate!

Yeah, I thought so too, but that's how we were advised to do it from the company that sold us our invitations. I actually added a few extra days to it! I will say that most people were very prompt and did return the rsvp card rather quickly. Oddly, it's actually a lot of the people who are closest to us that have allowed us to be kept in the dark. I have no doubt that even if we had made the rsvp date a full month before the wedding, the same people who haven't responded yet STILL wouldn't respond by the time we had to finalize plans. Some people are just total procrastinators.

Re: RSVP vent

in the words of my wonder FH, F 'em.

keep calling them and LIE. flat out 'explain' that your reception site demands the final number by a date you and FH determine (like say Monday by 5pm. that's a slightly more reasonable sounding time than 3:30) and that if extras show up, they are charging you an additional $50/person for the inconvenience on their chef. this might fly as in reality, the halls typically figure out that if 200 people are attending wedding A, they need X amt. of time to set up/prep and prepare the meals.

sometimes, you gotta milk the truth A LOT to get people to move.

Thanks
I should clarify that the reason I said 3:30 is because that's what time we have to turn the stuff over to the hall tomorrow, so I wanted to give them until the last possible minute. But hey, if the hall doesn't charge the 'additional $50/person' they johnny come latelys don't need to know that and then that's more for my gift!

gotcha....well, use my lie/scheme...w/e and your time. see, you really do have a deadline. even add (in case they don't buy it cause you didn't mention it before when calling) that you just spoke to them(hall) about late RSVPs and they said that they will charge you for it...even if you add them on Monday....you get the drift.
