A bunch of my friends haven't RSVPed to the wedding yet, so when I see them I say 'You should probably send back your RSVP today' and I'm playful about it because I know the RSVP date is a month away.
THREE of them now have said they are waiting to see if they have a bf...UMMMMM...no one was invited with a guest. Then this leads to the awkward, 'Well, actually no one is invited with a guest unless they're in a serious relationship.' To which they reply 'But it says number of guests.' To which I have to say, 'That means number of people attending and since only one of you is invited, the number should be 1 or 0.'
FH wants me to put an announcement on FB saying that unless your inner envelope said 'and guest' or a person's name, no one was invited with a guest. I think that's tacky and I should handle them as they come in. What do you think?

Re: RSVP vent...
no, don't post that on FB!
if someone puts a plus one for themselves, you can speak to that person in private!
i know it's annoying that they're assumign they get to bring a guest, but i could see why they're confused (honestly, before getting engaged, i probably wouldn't have known either)

Re: RSVP vent...
Don't post on FB. I did that and it got me in a lot of trouble - Trust me.
I felt there was no other way, really. Since no one answered my calls or texts when I tried to be private I went nuts.
'Waiting for a bf?' give me a break. this isn't a back yard bash.

Re: RSVP vent...
I have a friend, actually a BM, who wrote on her RSVP card 'might be two, waiting to see if I can find a date'
Yes, I invited her with a guest, but that was more out of courtesy if she wanted to bring one of the many men I know that she keeps on a leash....not for her to bring some random guy she met on match.com or bell blvd.

I know...I don't know why people think they can just bring anyone for the sake of bringing someone! That's why FH and I decided against guests in the first place.

ITA! Before getting engaged I used to get upset about that too. Just speak to everyone privately if they send it back plus 1. It's SO annoying but people just don't get it.

Re: RSVP vent...
we only invited guest wtih dates if they were engaged or in a serious relationship. only ONE person actually asked if they can bring a date and we said no, not unless they fit into the above criteria...end of story..he was not insulted at all.. (or at least i hope..)

Re: RSVP vent...
FH and I wanted to avoid all that misunderstanding, so we had the person who designed our invitation card make a nice long line so we can write out everyone's name who we where inviting, we also added a line were we filled in the number of guest invited, and added a note in italics that read 'Please no substitutions'
I that HC that they are assuming they are getting could be used to invite some one u actually know, but couldn't get to on your B list.

Re: RSVP vent...
Is it ok if I bring someone other than Felice as my +1?
P.S. still not sure if I'm going to make it...might be washing my hair. Have to check my schedule
