RSVP vent.... UPDATE

Original post by Caprica6

a few couples that I have never met but are invited to the wedding asked FH's family if they can bring their babies to the wedding......
I know i did not specify adults only reception, but no where on the invite did it say 'BYOB- bring your own baby'....

UPDATE: well.. FH talked to 1 couple and since their entire family is out of state and they have no one to watch the baby, they will be bringing the baby.... they don't feel comfortable leaving their baby with a stranger. So the deal is, no baby at the ceremony and at the reception, their table will be in a back corner. It was important to FH that they come, so I will not be a bridezilla for that (even though I don't know them).
I do not know the status of the 2nd couple that asked.... we will have to wait and see for that one.

Re: RSVP vent....

Wow I am SO not looking forward to sending out my invites and dealing with RSVPs...we are inviting a total 4 children (all his first cousins) with NO exceptions.

Since it's FH's side, make him be the one to make the call so you don't have to be the bad guy

That really sucks! It would be funny to NO BYOB on the invitation and people will think it means beer.

I'm worried about my FH's family trying to add people, but it's simple: NO. If I invited Mr. & Mrs, then that is it. If I invited Mr. & Mrs + Child.. then that's it. No exceptions. People have some nerve! Good luck!

Ah, we say this now and then when people do it, it creates an INSANE amount of family drama

Re: RSVP vent....

My response to this kind bull$hit lately has been to just say 'REALLY?' what world do they live in to think this is acceptable behavior?!!!
And asking the parents, this I just don't get, are your parents getting married that same day too??? Bc why else would they be asking THEM? Grrrr. I'm not the right person to be nice with this bs right now!

Re: RSVP vent....

I firmly agree that this is OUR day and want no interruptions, especially from crying babies during our ceremony! This is a HUGE stressor for me and I think about it constantly. FH family lives out of state and they all have children, like babies!!!! What do you do then??!!! We are both in agreement that we do NOT want children at a beautiful ceremony and an expensive catering hall!!!!! Suggestions.....please!!!!

tell them that it's an adult-only reception.

if THAT doesn't fly, and means they won't be able to make it... do you really think you'll notice the babies? Seat the people far from you and not along the dance floor and I bet you won't even see them.

I say...if that doesnt fly then they simply must not find your wedding day important enough to search for a babysitter. If they were close to you and you knew for a fact that they didnt have anyone to watch the kids, then you could consider the exception but then you have to worry about other people feeling insulted that you didnt invite their children.

We decided not to even have a flower girl or ring bearer in our wedding party simply to avoid that feeling all together.

Good Luck.
