RSVP Wording - is this rude?...

hey ladies,

As you may know from my sister, jenlen's posts, its always been very dfificult figuring out who from our church we should invite. She was able to invite almost everyone, but i am aiming for a guest list about 100 less than hers. I was thinking of inviting some of the ppl that i am friends with, but not necessarily their parents, who they live with.

Is it rude to just invite the kids, but not the parents? (fyi, 'kids' are in their 20's)

and would it be rude to have a line on your rsvp card saying:

___ seats have been reserved for you

where does it go on the rsvp card? above or below the 'M______________ ' line?

thanks!

it's so not rude! you can't invite everyone!

I've seen people do that '___ seats are reserved in your honour' I think it is fine. I usually see it at the bottom of the RSVP card

no its not rude you can just inform people that its a small wedding and you have a guest limit and I would put it after M___________________

I'm confused...if the invitation is only addressed to the 'children', then the would their parents assume they were invited even though they weren't named on the invitiation?

yes. i think especially bc they live at the same house - i guess its hard bc we grew up with everyone at the church (very small family-oriented church) so i think ppl already assume that they're invited....

thanks for your help!

I think you can also do something like this:

_ of _ accept

and you fill in the second blank yourself with the number of people for that family

first i don't think the wording is rude, i kind of wish i put it that way!
As for your friends, i don't think that you have to invite their parents, unless your whole family is close with them.

ohhhhh, gotcha. ugh, that's a tough one. In that case, I do not think that what you wrote is rude at all. Hopefully they 'get' it and don't come anyway.

Let me ask you...what's the fallout going to be when these people realize they're not invited? Is it going to be bad, or no big deal?

not rude at all.. i invited a few kids and not their parents.. i got shytt from one person and that was it.. but that too blew off... you can address the invites in the child's name, so they would know..

its not rude at all. i did mine this way. I worded it 'please reply by XYZ. ____ seats have been reserved in your honor.' and then reply goes below that. theres a pic in my album

Re: RSVP Wording - is this rude?...

i've heard stories from other friends at church that have gotten married and didn't invite certain ppl. One lady (who is like 75) went up to one friend and demanded an invitation to her destination wedding. Another one invited like 2 of her nieces and a sister in law (who we had never met before) I've heard a few different scenarios like that. My sister didn't invite some ppl for certain specific reasons, and my parents have gotten the silent treatment (my parents didn't want to invite them either)...
