I am working on my response card wording and I am going back and forth on my reply date. My wedding is on May 23, 2010 and because people seem to s u c k at rsvping (yes I know, probably not a real word) my draft response card says:
Kindly respond before April 23, 2010.
I am planning on sending the invites out by the middle of March. Is this too early? What do you guys think? I feel like everyone knows we are getting married at this point, and they should already know whether they are planning on attending or not...

Re: RSVP/Response card
I don't think that's too early at all. I would even move the respond date up by a week. That way by April 23rd, you can start making phone calls to the inevitable people who have not responded.

Sounds good to me, we had the same timeline.

I am thinking a month and a half as well, it just depends on which RSVP date I choose.

Re: RSVP/Response card
Sorry, I think I made my question confusing... what I meant is if you think April 23rd is too early of a response date, since my wedding is May 23rd. I have been told that people usually do two weeks, but this seems too close to the wedding date...

I think your time frame is perfect, I wouldn't change a thing!

i think your time frame is good too... i wouldn't change anything. But if you're worried about people not rsvp-ing, moving it up a week is good too so you'd have time to call people.

Re: RSVP/Response card
People really are a pain in the tush when it comes to responding. What is so hard to write your name and a number and drop the card in the mailbox? I mean COME ON, don't make me harass you and wait until last minute for you to come up with some BS excuse, like 'I have a prior affair,' if that's the case, couldn't you have sent me the RSVP back IMMEDIATELY?
