RSVPS and International Postage?

RSVPS and International Postage?

OK I have three invites going internationally - Mexico, Canada and Hong Kong. Can I use US postage on the RSVP envelope or would they need to use postage from that country (like Canada would need Canadian postage?)

Thanks

I am 99% sure that we had to put international postage on both the invitation and RSVP cards that we sent to Italy. You should definitely check with the post office - they can weight it and give you the proper postage.

My post office told me I had to put extra postage on the outer envelope, but had to send the rsvp cards without postage because our international guests had to use their own postage to mail them back.

Never thought of this!!!!

So do we leave the postage off the RSVP or ask the PO how much to put on?

that is what I was figuring. Plus the one going to Hong Kong will be mailed back from China, most likely, so that is even more confusing.

leave the postage off the rsvp. I think we had to put .80cents on the outer envelopes. Not sure if that's changed since the postage increase.

No... you don't have to put postage on the rsvp.
they will use their own postage.

I had to put a .83 cent stamp on my international STD's, but the CA one was .63

I didn't even think about the RSVP- good point!

Funny you should ask this, b/c I just went to mail my international invites a few minutes ago!

I had to buy an international postage coupon to put in the reply card. They then have to take that coupon and take it to their post office. I paid for it in advance, so they don't have to pay for it when they go to their post office.

Not sure if this is for every country, but my invite was going to Australia.

Hope I helped!

Your international guests are going to have to put their own stamps on the RSVPs...they have different shipping rates...

That is cool. I will ask about it when I go to the post office

The proper thing to do is to buy an international postage coupon but I don't care enough - I am not going to put anything on the RSVP envelope.

All the international invites are going to my family in the Caribbean and they wouldn't send it back anyway so I figure I can save a few pennies there.

I sent it without postage. No one had issues sending it back.

Same here - we had 4 to Italy and 1 to Germany - they said it had to be their own postage.

You don't have to put the postage on the rsvp they will take care of that themselves.

We sent invitations to Canada using US postage for outer envelop and the RSVP. Both delivered without any problems.
