My great uncle sent back the RSVP card with just a x marked that they will not be attending. I was NOT expecting money, but a simple 'congratulations, I'm so sorry we cant make it' would have been nice? I havent seen him in 10 years, and we were close throughout my childhood.
Am I being to sensitive?

It would have been nice to at least throw in a congratulations or something, but guys can be like that, no matter what their age!

I suppose, but I suspect it was his wife that sent it back. I'm just being super sensitive I guess.

Re: rude rsvps
When I send back the RSVP card I usually don't write a message if I'm not attending, but I will send a small gift later on. Maybe he will send the well wishes later on.
i know it sucks, but don't sweat it!

I don't think you are being super sensitive. You have a right to feel hurt.
I have an uncle that told my mother he would be 'like a dad' after my dad died. I have seen him twice since (15+ years). I'm not even inviting him.
I think it really sucks when family isn't there for you when you think they should. But its their loss, you can spend your day with people that really matter.

I agree with a previous poster who said that perhaps he will send a card/gift closer to the wedding!

Maybe he will send a Congratulations down the line. My cousin got an RSVP back from her uncle for her wedding where they checked no and wrote, does NOT regret. People.

I know how you feel. I felt the same way when one of my old college buddies RSVP'd no and didn't say anything.

That is rude. I find guys to be insensitive and idiots no matter what the age.

Re: rude rsvps
I have to be honest. Maybe I'm naive--but I sent back an RSVP with a simple no but put a card in the mail the next week. I never thought it to be rude.
When you make things a simple yes or no most people aren't going to go out of the box to write you a message--at least that's how I feel..
Maybe a card will come soon.

My best friend got one back that said 'hell no'
She found out months after the wedding that it was a joke but she was devastated.

I don't think it's rude. There's only a line for an X, not a line for an explanation or congratulations.

Re: rude rsvps
maybe its just me, but i dont think its rude... you have a space for yes or no, its not required to leave a special message.
I mean some people are just clueless... you have a lot more things to worry about

Pretty much every card we have gotten back, someone has written something small on the bottom. But yeah, in the big picture its not something to sweat.

Me too. I wouldn't expect anything with the RSVP, but something close to the wedding date.

When you are stressed out as it is... I can't imagine NOT being devastated.
