rude rsvps

Original post by Jflow

My great uncle sent back the RSVP card with just a x marked that they will not be attending. I was NOT expecting money, but a simple 'congratulations, I'm so sorry we cant make it' would have been nice? I havent seen him in 10 years, and we were close throughout my childhood.

Am I being to sensitive?

Well ladies what's ur thoughts on this. I have a uncle who's said he's not comming to my wedding numerous times, not because he's upset with me over something, but because he's upset with my mother. (His sister) they have been fussing since Saint Patricks day which was when we lost my grandmother (their mother). I've tried reaching out to him if for anything to see how he was holding up and all my attemps have been unsucessful. He wrote a very nasty letter to my mother saying he didn't wanna be bothered with her or her kids. I never expected this from him because we were always close up into the disagreement between my mother and him. Should I even bother to send him and invitation

Re: rude rsvps

get this... I sent out an invitation to the wrong address (it was a number off, the correct address was # 36 but I mailed it to #37) the owners opened the invitation and responded on the RSVP card that the people I addressed the invitation to, did not live at that address!!!!! I was pissed!!! Who opens someone else's mail and then wastes my stamp by mailing back the RSVP card that was not intended for you!!!! Am I over reacting? Is it just me? Why couldn't they just put it back in the mailbox and return to sender???!!!!!!

sorry had to vent...

this.. send it anyway as long as your mother is ok with it (out of respect for her feelings)

I don't think it's rude. I've never written a note on an RSVP card. The thought just never occurred to me until I got married and some people wrote notes on our RSVP cards. But most didn't.
