rudeness..

so, yesterday i had my first rude/dumb comment since getting engaged so i figured i'd share, lol....
me and a couple of friends go out once a week for drinks. so last night we were out and one of the waiters that talks to us sometimes comes over to say hi. i told him i got engaged and he tells me that i should go get my ring appraised to make sure its real!! so at first i thought he was joking around so im like yea, haha... he was dead serious!! hes like you dont have to tell anyone your doing it, just go on your own time, get it appraised just so you know. he's like, you dont want your fiance going around bragging about this ring he got you and its not even real. yea sure whatever, i'll get right on that buddy... im like, if i really didnt trust fh enough where i actually had to go behind his back and make sure the ring was real, i most likely would not be marrying him... i can't beleive someone would actually say that though!! lol, its kinda funny but how freakin rude?!?! dumba$$

Re: rudeness..

That is weird, but he probably meant well. Maybe he knows someone that happened to! Yikes. But it's not something you say to someone you don't really know.

I guess it depends on how he said it, honestly. Some people get it appraised for insurance reasons, from what I understand. Also, people do get hustled unfortunately when making big purchases. It is possible that your FH thought it was a good deal- a real ring but it might not be- there are crooks out there. Its still kind of random that the waiter was the one to tell you this. The right response would have been 'Its beautiful! Congratulations!' However, what he said was not entirely freaky. IMO

Ya that is wierd, I would see his point if he was talking about insurance reasons, but to see if it is real????

I completely agree. Although, he is right. You should get it appraised. Not to make sure it's real, but to get it insured.

Yea, this is what I was thinking. Just to make sure your FH didn't get duped!!

That was quite rude.
Perhaps he meant well by letting you know it should be appraised, but by inferring that your FH might not give you a real diamond or a cheap one, that's out of line.

Sounds like this guy has trust issues .............

Have the ring appraised and then insured.
Macy's Herald Square does some really good appraisals - very good numbers. Never let the ring out of your sight - at Macy's they do it right in front of you.

Hes dumb and knows nothing b/c u obviously have to get it appraised...why would your FH buy you a ring knowing you have to get it appraised for insurance.

DUMB...someone said that about my ring...that it was FAKE...im like yea ok...

It did happen to Burt Reynolds and Loni Anderson- he gave her a fake ring and she never knew it!!
