Run Lela7378 Run

I was running last night.

Because life should not be me eating a box of chocolates!

Now I need some tips and advice to build stamina. Carey!!!!!! I know you run but any other marathon brides here that can tell me what I can do. I can make it around the track about 2x (hey I only started Sunday) and then I walk 1x and repeat.

I'm training for a half marathon right now. When I first started out running though I could barely run a mile. You just have to work your way up there. Don't WALK! Even if you have to slow down, then do it. But keep a steady jog. Dont worry about how fast you're going. Just concencrate on distance. Increase your distance every few days/

Re: Run Lela7378 Run

For me the running took over the p90x workout so I am actually trying to slim down. I was told to run and walk to shock my system. It's only been a week BUT I pulled out of my weight loss plateau and FINALLY went down a size!!

Colleen you really think that I shouldn't walk?

Thank you SO Much for the advice!!

If you want to be able to run, you're better off just overall slowing your pace. Eventually you can increase your speed, but first you need to work on distance.

No problem! Also, my trainer reccomends eating carbs about 1-2 hours before. It gives you more energy.

I've trained for three half marathons using the hal hidgon's guides. He has training guides for every level. The one thing I can tell you, is do not over do it. No matter your level you can really injure yourself. (I have a friend who is a marathon runner who recently injured herself due to over training).

I walk all the time when i run. I actually prefer to walk for a little bit and then run at full speed again than to stay at a slow jog constantly.

Below is a link to Hal's beginner 30/30 running program. It has you running for 30 minutes a day for 30 days and gets you up to 1-2 miles. From there you can try training for a 5k which is 3.1
