Runaway Bride--On the flip side...

Runaway Bride--On the flip side...

Is anyone NOT ready to prosecute this woman to the fullest extent of the law?

Does anyone actually agree with/applaud the fiance for still wanting to go through with the wedding...?

Did you ever think that maybe he LOVES her...???

Yea, she did a stupid thing...But doesn't everyone? I'm sure most of the people who loved her and were close to her just felt relief when they learned that she was alive...And were wiling to forgive easily. Maybe they even felt bad for failing to pick up on her apprehension...

She's obviously suffered so much...I think most of us on this site can relate to the stresses planning a wedding creates...

Why so much hostility?

Also, she's an adult...And although it was not the most considerate thing to do to her family and her fiance...Are we not ALLOWED by law to just up and leave if we want to????????

I agree, but calling in a fake kidnapping is a crime. There is no need to have police involvement because she got cold feet.

AGREE. she made a poor choice. if a large number of people lied to the police like that, there'd be bad consequences for all of us, ya know?

I agree with this...That's really only where she went (legally) wrong...But even that can be chalked up to nerves and uncertainty about what to do. Obviously this woman was a mess.

cold feet is J Lo and Ben affleck - 2 weeks before the wedding...

Cold feet is NOT a pre-purchsed bus ticket to Vegas, a staged kidnapping by a Kelly Ripa/Mark Consuelos lookalike couple, or lying to the FBI.

She's an idiot - she should be prosecuted. All the resources that went into finding her were TAKEN AWAY from somone that actually WAS kidnapped!!!!

Her selfishness/studpidity undoubtedly cost America a life, somewhere.

That's the part about it that bothers me. I don't care whether they get married - it's not my business. But the fact that the cops were busy following up on a fake kidnapping, when they could have used their resources to investigate REAL crimes, really pisses me off.

Wholeheartedly agree!

I know she was confused, yaddda yadda... but would it have been SO DIFFICULT to call her parents and say 'I am alive, I am ok .. dont worry , I'll be back in a week or whatever' etc

The lying part, the extensive search for her .. the stupid story about being kidnapped. It all makes me sick, to be honest.

I think it would have been fine if she just left. I would have respected that decision a lot more. What she did is childish, and she's not a child.

I can understand the pressure of a wedding, though one of that size boggles the mind. But if it was the event itself, why not say to the FH 'Let's run off to Vegas.'

Seriously, I think one of the worst things I could do to my parents and DH would be running off with no explanation. If my mother does not hear from me every 3-4 days she gets worried. If I suddenly disappeared into thin air (as this woman appeared to) they would be panicked, and understandably so.

I am not saying she should rot in hell, but I think she has a lot of forgiveness to ask for. I am sure her parents are very hurt by her actions.

I also think what she did shows a lack of respect for her FH. How could she not think that they would point the finger at him almost immediately?

I support the decision to prosecute. I also think she should pay the cost of the search, whatever that is.

I don't agree with the Fiancee for wanting to go through with the wedding.

I understand that he loves her. If my FH did that, I would still love him too. Love isn't a feeling that can just be turned off. But that stunt would make it impossible for me to have a happy marriage to him. I would always wonder if he would run away if he was feeling stressed out. If running away wa my FH's way of dealing with stress, then that is a deal breaker, love or no love.

I'm sure I would be relieved that FH came home safely. But again- that kind of behavior is a deal breaker. It pisses me off that she PLANNED this, knowing she would scare the hell out of her FH, her friends, her family. Not to mention all the kind people who searched for her.

I don't think her 'suffering' over a wedding is comparable to the anguish of her loved ones who worried that she could be dead.

Why do I feel hostile...because aside from feeling terrible for all those people who care for her, there are plenty of other things the police could have been doing that searching for her dumb arse.

You are right, she is an adult. But she certainly didn't behave like one. As an adult, she should have let her FH know what was going on.

I am alitle surprised at all the hostility. It does seem like people quickly forgot they just wanted her to be alive.

I do think there is something amiss with her or them, & hope she can get the help she needs.

It's normal to get cold feet, but not normal to call in a fake kidnapping and wasting the authorities time when there can be a real victim out there who truly needs help...

Yes she's alive but the point is she lied about a very serious crime!!!

Right now I could give two SH**S about her well being.

Re: Runaway Bride--On the flip side...

I am a little surprised at how personally I am taking this situation since really I don't know her and who cares as a result.
But I do- I am really angry- I lost a night of sleep due to nightmares from this faked kidnapping, it was a waste of precious resources and to think of doing that to my own family, even if I was completely stressed out, is just unthinkable to me.
As a therapist, I understand her confusion and fear but I dislike her methods in getting the help she needed. I am trying hard to compassionate but as a stressed out bride myself and someone who did break off a previous wedding, I am finding it hard to do.
