Hmmm... if it's at Macy's do you think there will only be Demetrios dresses? Or is this like a traveling show with all designer dresses?
Did I say Macy's? If I did I meant filenes, however, I did get an e-mail that macy's is having a 15-20% sale on their bridal gowns, I'll fm you the info

Re: Running of the Brides
It is a traveling show. They started it in Ohio 2 weeks ago, this past week they had it in Boston, then it comes to NY and then goes to 2 more cities. Whatever wasnt bought in Ohio and Boston comes to NY but the designer gowns range from 250-800 (I think) and the retail prices of these gowns can go up to 8000+ so you will get an excellent deal if you buy one!

Re: Running of the Brides
Hey! Haven't heard anything about this recently...are you girls still planning on going? Who's lining up at 5am and who's showing up a little later? Have people had any luck getting there after the mad rush at 8? I'm considering going at 9...is that too late?

Re: Running of the Brides
It's a bridal gown sale at Filene's Basement.
Basically, Filene's Basement accumulates a bunch of bridal gowns (samples, overstocks, cancelled boutique orders, excess merchandise etc) and when they have enough they put on a huge sale. Original price tags are usually still on the dress (ranging from $800-9,000+) and the dresses are on sale for $249, $499, and $699.
Someone earlier posted that they went to the one in Boston and got a $7,000 dress for $700.

Re: Running of the Brides
I'm still going, I'll probably be there a half hour before they let people in, maybe earlier depending on the weather but the girls that already went said it doesn't really matter what time you get there.

Re: Running of the Brides
It's NOT a nightmare. Seriously. Its a BUNCH of fun. And let me tell you, having my dress and knowing that I got such a ridiculous deal was TOTALLY worth it.....
Doors opened at 8, and by 9:30 I had found my dress.
Honestly ladies, don't bother lining up at 5:30. Get there at 7:30. Its not worth it

Re: Running of the Brides
I had a question for the girls that are going..
Are you driving? I'm taking the subway since I don't have a car and I'd be worried about parking..but if you're not driving..how are you taking the dress home? Is that a stupid question?
Do they put it in plastic for your or something that will protect it? I may be taking mine back to Queens on the subway and bus :(

Re: Running of the Brides
I'm going with my mom and if I do buy my dress there I will be taking it on the LIRR (but probably the subway to the LIRR) I'm not too nervous about it. I live in queens too, where in queens are you?

Re: Running of the Brides
I'm in Jackson Heights...so I have to take the subway to the bus. I guess I'm worried bc I'm a really petite person and I'm not sure if I can handle it!! But I'll do what I have to do to get my dress home
