Re: RUNNING SNEAKERS?
I have about 100 pairs of sneakers, and my favorite are my newbalance, they aren't even running sneakers, they are crosstrainers I think. They are just so cushioned and the arches are really good.

Sauconys actually aren't bad. They have good cushioning too.

Re: RUNNING SNEAKERS?
I also used to swear by Sauconys, but at the urging of another runner, I tried this brand that I never heard of, Mizuno....I LOVE THEM! They are the best sneaker I've ever run in....mostly because I have a super narrow foot...these are great.

Re: RUNNING SNEAKERS?
If you plan to do a lot of running...do not get crosstrainers...
Running shoes are very subjective...I have found after 15 years of running that I need to use NIKE Air Pegusus...only...if not I will get nasty shin splints...
I havn't changed (models) in years...and there could be other shoes that would work for me now, but if it ain't broke....

Re: RUNNING SNEAKERS?
it depends on your foot. (nikes never fit me right in the arch).
I love my new balance, asics are great too, and I have a pair of reebok I love (I go through sneakers so quickly, sp thank god for my fitness instructor discounts I get from the companies)

Re: RUNNING SNEAKERS?
i think it really depends on the person. no shoe will work for everyone. my advice would be to go to a specialty running store where they know how to fit you. the one i went to actually made me run around the store and really worked with me to find shoes.

Re: RUNNING SNEAKERS?
GO TO A PROFESSIONAL TO FIND OUT WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU! Really.
I love Adidas. Can't wear anything but. FH is a Nike man. Can't wear anything but Nike.
You need to find out what is the best shoe for your body, your foot, and your gait (the way you run).
Super Runner Shops (in Huntington, and a few in the city) have people who can tell you what shoe is best for you. They are very friendly and do know what they are talking about.
Also the Runner's Edge in Farmingdale is very good too. They also know what they are talking about.
Both stores will allow you to run up and down the street to try the shoe out. They are both fantastic.

Re: RUNNING SNEAKERS?
I agree - what are the best running sneakers really varies by person. Whether the person is a suppinator or pronator etc.
I buy my running shoes from Road Runner Sports. They work with you by analyzing your old sneakers to find how you wear them. They are the best.
Good Luck!

Re: RUNNING SNEAKERS?
I hear that Nike, New Balance, and Saucony are very good running shoes.
I second Super Runner Shop...they are some great people in there (avid runners tend to be super nice people)
my HS asst couch worked there as well for a while

Re: RUNNING SNEAKERS?
Asics - 2080's are another great shoe - but I also highly recommend Runner's Edge in Farmingdale - Bob Cook is the owner - he's a great guy and everyone there knows their stuff. Bring your old running sneakers when you go, it helps them see how you run.
