it's not vendors who have bbb complaints, it's vendors who have had/caused problems here on liw.

and to the people who say 'well, you never know with the customers on bbb complaints...' I mean, it's your choice and your money, but I would NEVER use a company who has a complaint on there. There are so many great vendors out there - why risk it? Most of the time, if there's one person with a registered complaint, there are ten more out there who had complaints but didn't bother or even know to register them. It's not worth it, in my opinion.

oh yeah, that too. I forgot.. they cause problems here too..

My sister used them last May and we are using them for our wedding in July. They do now also take digital pictures along with the film. I know they have some issues on BBB but we heard about that after we booked them. I know a few people who used them and their pictures all came out beautiful. I'm just crossing my fingers that ours do too!

I'm sure your pictures will be amazing...I don't think you can doubt that at all! We are definately still considering them too even though we have heard some not so great things because, well we've seen like 6 or 7 other photographers and overall I don't think they compare to **************. I just really loved their work.

And I wasn't trying to offend at all, I hope I didn't. Cause like I said even if their customer service isn't great, I don't think you need to worry about the pictures at all! Those will be beautiful.

Also, regarding the BBB - you never know the customers either. You can't say for sure who was right/wrong unless you know the whole story. I hope you have a great experience overall!

Oh and I didn't know they also shoot digital. I don't think they mentioned that to be but good to know. Thanks!

Oh no, you didn't offend me at all! I've heard this before and definitely have my worries. They actually didn't mention that they shot digital to me either, but when my sister got her pics back she found out that they had taken digital photos along with the film.

FH and I started visiting photographers today...ugh!

Anyone know anything about *************'s Photography in Roslyn Heights? They are recommended by my RH, but I haven't seen much about them here. The stuff we saw in the studio was BEAUTIFUL, but they are tres expensive! Any comments/experiences good or bad is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I know which photo you are talking about. WHy dont you do a search on here for that company and read other peoples reviews. HTH

we didn't like them. they kept passing us from room to room. when we first got there we had to sit in their little lobby thing for 20 mins before anyone realized we were there (they don't believe in a receptionist?) we just got a bad vibe. plus all the complaints, how they act pretty snobby if your wedding isn't at oheka. no thanks! the pictures looked nice though, but so do a lot of other photographers who aren't snobby. and don't have tons of complaints against them for being snobby, and rude, and mean.

that's just our opinion though.

WOW... Just an FYI. I never was treated rudly or had an issue with anyone being snobby there...

We booked them 2yrs ago and have dealt with them a good deal regarding bills and stuff... no one has ever done anything to make me think twice.

Regarding the BBB... you also have to understadn that some brides out here (I don't know if they are on here or not) are usually OTT and complain about small things that might not have been the vendors fault... I am not saying that this is the case... but remember it could be... Brides planing weddings didn't get the nick name BRIDZILLAS for nothing.

Just remember that there is always 2 sides of the story... i know a few people who have used BM and have had NO problems.

I agree. We had no complaits at all about their service, friendliness, etc. But that was our experience. They were actually the first photographer we saw and I have to say we were clueless and the guy we dealt with really took his time with us, didn't make us feel dumb and wasn't impatient at all.

prinses777 - I just looked at your wedding date and I see it is this year! Congrats and I am looking forward to hearing your review for BM! I'm sure everything will be amazing!
I hope we have made a photog. decision by then, but who knows so could be very helpful!

My cousin used them. Their pictures are great. I looked into them for my wedding but I did like book because they do not use magazine style albums. Also, your package is A la carte. Alot of stuff was extra!!

Re: *************'s Photography

I know someone who used Brett_Matthews for an 04 wedding. She still hasn't gotten her album and just recently got her enlargements. A lot of this was due to the bride procrastinating but most of it was the company. She got her enlargements but first they did the wrong picture (then didn't even let her keep it) then the second time there was a spot on it and the last time it came out MUCH darker then the original proof. Overall her pics were very nice and the photographers were pleasant to work with but what is happening after isn't great! Can you get a date when you will have your album and enlargements by on your contract? I wonder that for myself actually.

like the post above me it seems EVERYTHING was extra!!!

know someone who used Bret_Mattews> She LOVED her pics but I think they are pricey.

ditto. DH's cousin used them for her wedding and they were great pics but definitely too pricey for my taste.

Re: *************'s Photography

FYI- just bc a company's name is blocked out doesnt mean they have complaints on BBB. This is not the case w/ my vendor for example. As far as whether LIW blocks the company if they have a problem with the vendor, I have only heard of that happening in one case, w/ M I A from BL but I dont think we can say that is the case w/ all company's that are blocked out. Who knows.

Re: *************'s Photography

Companies that are blocked out have usually had some dispute with LIW. Those disputes may or may not be related to reviews or the BBB. LIW has blocked some companies at the request of the company.

Re: *************'s Photography

Wow, this is really interesting stuff. I will look into this more. I did run a search for them, but (probably b/c their name gets removed) didn't see much. I will check the BBB.

As was mentioned above, this is not meant to offend anyone. I thought their pictures were amazing, best of the five photogs we've seen so far. I've you've have booked, I am sure your pics will be great, which is all that matters in the end.

On the whole waiting thing, they kept us waiting for 35 minutes, making us late for our next appt. FH was seething, b/c they had called to ask if they could move us back on Friday and he told them sorry, but we can't b/c we have another appt...then they just went ahead and booked the appt they were probably trying to accomodate and made us wait. FH was sooo mad, but even he learned over to me once we were in the room and said, 'crap, I really like their stuff.'

There was one red flag though (and this goes to the ala carte point), they refuse to give you the .jpeg files on a DVD for 5 years, which is equivalent of the negatives (even if you pay for them). Everyone else we met with offered this...

Re: *************'s Photography

Just to put this information here (and this facts, not a judgment at all), I did look into the BBB records for this company.

There are no registered complaints/issues in the last 12 months. In the time period of 12-36 months, there are six registered complaints. The complaint issues are 'Contract Disputes,' 'Delivery Issues,' 'Selling Practices,' 'Service Issues' and 'Product Quality.' Each issue had one instance, except for 'Product Quality,' which had two.

All six complaints have been administratively judged 'resolved.' According to BBB, this means 'The Company has responded to the complaint(s) addressing the disputed issues, however, the consumer remains dissatisfied.'

Unfortunately, there is no more detail available.

If anyone else wants to look up this company or any others, the BBB of New York can be found at:

Re: *************'s Photography

I just used them for my wedding and have nothing but great things to say!! My engagements pics came out beautifully and I'm someone who takes horrible pics. Our main photographer was Tony(I highly recommend him) and he had a lighting guy and a guy taking action pics, they made us feel really comfortable, even my parents commented about how nice they were. Two people whom I have worked with used them for their weddings and I loved their pics and they had great experiences. I'm excited to get my proofs back, they said about five weeks. When I booked in 2006 digital pics were not an option, but that was not an issue for me
