OMG Sheena, I feel so bad for you. The best thing to do is to pray and hope that they will find another party to take that date. All you have to do now is to just stay on top of them and try and get the date sold. I am sure someone will book it.
It's just such a shame the way that hall treats people!!

Thats really tough.. I'm SURE they will re-book though, June is a VERY popular wedding season. $500 is ALOT to lose, but at least you realize it now, before you had all of your vendors booked and were all ready to go and last minute you couldn't come up with the money.
I know its hard, but I'm sure everything will work out for the best.

Wait wait wait - I could be wrong but I could have SWORN that if you cancel a wedding venue more than 6 months prior to the wedding date, you do not owe them anything (except the deposit) but please research that.

I am really surprised! I was engaged 3-4 years ago and canceled my wedding three months before. Now I had paid the hall$5,600 and I didn't get anything back but I wasn't required to pay more. I am really really surprised. I would read the fine print of your contract to see if it says that you are responsible for 75% it is far enough away that they should be able to rebook it.
Edited to correct the information

i agree, 75% does sound like abnormally high.... you could post on here for someone to take your date if theywant it also

In one way, be happy that your deposit was only $500 and not $5000...It is still a decent amount of money to lose right now, but if its what needs to happen right now than so be it...
Definately read through your contract with them to see what is in the fine print. 75% responsibility sounds like ALOT...Your month is really popular so someone is bound to come along and book it...

75% sounds like an awful lot... I would read and re-read your contract.
However, I think you will be fine. June is a very popular month PLUS I know what RH you had from other posts, and it's a very popular RH as well.

THanks Ladies!!!!! I have been thinking about giving my actual BM a call and talk to him and not the lady. I don't know how I ended up dealing with her in the first place. I never met her just phone calls. WHat do you ladies think? I'm almost like maybe I should just suck it up and just talk to someone else. Maybe that was her off day....I have no idea....but like I said I have never met her before.
The contract states If PAtron cancels this contract and Caterer is unable to rebook the date, Caterer's cancellations fee shall be seventy-five percent of the total contract price, plus actual expenses reasonably incurred.
I don't know what to do.

I do have all my vendors booked except limo and video which I was thinking to cut anyway unless I can find something super cheap. I was supposed to get married in October but had to change my wedding to next year due to finances.
